Changing to GMail

I have made a decision to change my main email account from Hotmail to GMail. I think that it has advanced far enough for me to make the change.

This decision is not really at all borne out of an anti-Microsoft stance, but really a pro-i-like-things-to-work stance. After switching browsers to Firefox, I have really noticed that most of the MS sites, including Hotmail, aren't really totally great with anything other than Internet Explorer.

That combined with a lot of other 'pull' factors of GMail has convinced me to make the switch.

Below is my last email that I sent … Read more →

Serves me right….

Serves me right being a goody-two-shoes and coming into uni today. I'm in the labs typing this one out. Wednesday is normally my busiest day of this semester: 9-10 COMP3501 tute, 10-11 HIST2609 tute, 12-2 HIST2609 lecture, and a 2-4 COMP3501 lecture.

Went to my COMP3501 tute this morning as usual, and then went to go to the HIST2609 tute, to only find about 4 people there after turning up about a few minutes late. This doesn't seem right... i thought, so I checked the course outline, and lo-and-behold!: Week 9, 4 May: NO CLASSES!!!

So i've got from now … Read more →

Christos Anesti!

Christos Anesti! (Christ has risen!)

Christ is risen from the dead, through death trampling upon death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life.

Well, Easter 2005 has come and gone. Saturday night at midnight was of course the wonderful resurrection service, and yesterday was Great and Holy Pascha (Easter).

The fast is now over, and we all celebrated by truly stuffing ourselves.

As has been normal of recent history, at any big celebration i get sick. Not sick from the food or anything, but rather a flu-like sick. It happened at New Year's this year, and yesterday it … Read more →

Holy Wednesday & Gallery Comments

Holy Week continues, with today being Holy Wednesday, and i just got back from Church.

Kind of a weird week so far. I didn't get as much study as i'd hoped to get done over the weekend for various reasons, so I had to not go to work on Tuesday and concentrate on uni. It was a very productive day for me though, writing over 800wds of my HIST2609 essay.

Today I was going to go to uni as usual, but I woke up at about 4 in the morning with bad stomach pains which kept me awake for a … Read more →

Palm Sunday Fete & Holy Week Begins

Today is the first day of the Orthodox Christian Holy Week, which means going to Church at least every night of this week, culminating in the Easter Resurrection service at midnight on Saturday night.

I haven't done as much study as i'd hoped to have done recently, so unfortunately that means i won't be able to have a study-free Holy Week.

One of the reasons why I didn't get as much study done was because of the great Shoe-Shopping Escapade of Friday. This was forced about mainly due to the fact that my everyday shoes were quickly giving in, with … Read more →

So much to blog!!: Popey, Hi Dr Death!, anti-iPod, & My Week

Lately I have been writing down the things That I would like to blog so I can remember them, but only now is the first time this week that i have actually had some time to sit and type out an entry, and thus I have stuff to blog coming out of my ears!

Warning: This will be a long post!

Popey!! (off The Family Guy (see the first comment) lol)

Of course the news has been covered with the election of the new Pope. The Cardinals ended up choosing Ratzinger, who took the name Benedict XVI. This disappointed many … Read more →

Exam and Presanctified

I still feel very tired, even after sleeping in till 9 this morning. I guess I've had a even busier than normal busy over the past few days.

Since my last post, on Tuesday night we went to the talk on the series about An Introduction to Orthodoxy. This week was on Baptism, Marriage, and Death, and really an explanation of all the services associated with each. I was particularly looking forward to this week, for the marriage thing is highly relevant to me and Despina at the current time.

Disappointingly, there wasn't enough time to cover marriage, and will … Read more →

Altar Boy and Futsal Returns

Lots and lots to blog over the past few days, but where do I begin??

Okay, since my last post, on Friday i did in fact type out all of my history essay, but it took much longer than I had expected it to, in fact most of the day. I had wanted to start studying for my COMP3501 (HCI) exam that I have on Wednesday but that didn't really happen.

Friday night was the Akathist hymn, which was good because I had the book and could easily follow along.

Saturday I tried to study for the exam, but was … Read more →

Gearing up the fingers

I'm typing this blog entry mainly to 'warm-up' my fingers to type my 2000wd essay that i'm going to do right after I finish this entry, because otherwise, i don't really have the time to type an entry.

Funny thing happened just a few moments ago: my yiayia (grandmother) just walked into my room and saw all the clothes that are lying everywhere that I haven't been bothered to put away. After the usual chiding on the state of my room and my treatment of the clothes, she remarks something along the lines of: "When you're married Despina won't put … Read more →

The Essay Slayed & Pontiff Passes

Finished my war of attrition for this essay, having just finished writing it tonight. I didn't really expect to finish it today, but after i got back from soccer i was just on a roll and wrote the last 500 words relatively quickly, references and all.

Speaking of soccer today: the trials for the new season continued, with us playing a team called The Squirrels, which actually contains one of Nick's uni lecturers. It was a very tight game, which was very defensive. It was 0-0 after half time, and i broke the deadlock and scored with about 6 or … Read more →
