We started off the weekend by going to see Transformers on Friday night. I've got to say that I really enjoyed this movie, it's easily the best movie i've seen all year.

Especially after the disappointments of other anticipated blockbusters like Pirates 3, this movie was such a breath of fresh air. In my opinion, it was an almost perfect balance of comedy and action, and probably most important of all, despite the expectation placed upon it the movie did not take itself too seriously.

The only downer that i felt existed from the movie was the almost sickening … Read more →

In all the sickness of the past week, i failed to notice that my previous entry was actually my 500th on this blog! *streamers and balloons*

Another numerical event was that our car just turned 100,000. I dunno, but there's something special about watching 99999 turn to 100000. In the age of digital odometers we were deprived of a 'proper' click over, but i was still sad enough to take some pictures:

Also after the sickness of last week, i'm still a fair bit off returning to 100% health. I haven't been able to return to proper eating (although I … Read more →

Adding to my woes from the previous entry, the day after that (Wednesday) i woke-up not feeling too good at all. I decided there was no way that I was going to work, and as the day progressed, boy was I glad with that decision.

You may recall that at the end of last year I bragged about my vomit-free streak that i've had going since the start of 1999. I said back then that me bragging about it will probably curse me, and yesterday that proved correct (even though it took 6 months in coming).

Yesterday morning my … Read more →

Although i would have liked to, i haven't had a very nice weekend or a past few days.

The big news for Arsenal fans over the weekend is that the captain and all-time leading goal-scorer, Thierry Henry, left the club to join Barcelona. This stinks, mainly because of the following quote from barely a year ago when signing a new contract with Arsenal:

I've never played in Spain and never will... This is my last contract.
- Thierry Henry, May 2006
Here's what i thought back then. I guess that's what pisses me off about the whole thing: players … Read more →

The day after i got Mario Strikers Charged Football for the Wii, Command & Conquer 3 that I ordered a bit ago also arrived.

I've barely had time to play either in the past week, but I did manage to get past the first stage of C&C3, and also play a few games of Mario Strikers. Both seem to be really good games, so i can't wait to actually get some time to play them properly.

One of the reasons that I haven't played them much is that that the last two nights have been spent shopping. The main thing … Read more →

Once again, apologies for another lame Wii-related title; 6 months on and i still can't help myself ;).

Today I bought Mario Strikers Charged Football for the Wii for a very cheap (by Australian standards) $69 from JB-HiFi. Other than it being a pretty cool and fun football game for the Wii, it also has the distinction of being the very first online game on the console.

After playing the tutorials and a few of the 'campaign' games, i tried my mettle against some random guy online, and as expected, got totally pwned. There was a little lag, but … Read more →

I've just finished the monthly network maintenance for work. Took me a little longer than expected, but it's over now.

Today was largely uneventful, except for my indoor game. We've had a couple of good results lately, last week we won 4-0, but that game will be remembered by me as a game where I had about 15 solid goal-scoring chances but somehow I failed to score.

Today I was out to put that behind me, and I think I managed that. Early in the game i got a bouncing ball on the right of the goal, chipped it around … Read more →

I am quite literally exhausted. This past week at work was unbelievable, I don't think i've ever been so stressed or busy in my life. The replacement IT Manager is not starting until the start of this coming week (on Tuesday, because Monday is a public holiday here), so I had to spend the whole week manning the fort by myself.

Before the start of the week i was expecting the worst, however Monday turned out to be quite bearable, which actually raised my hopes for how the week was going to turn out.

Boy was I wrong, with each … Read more →

The weekend of distraction went well. I've reacquainted myself with Unreal Tournament 2004, playing online against the people on the Bigpond GameArena onslaught demo server. I'm actually doing better than I expected against the other people on it, and darn it's fun to play again.

It's also good to actually see the fruits of my beast-building with the performance on Trogdor absolutely rocking.

The other game that has fulfilled my distraction needs is the first season of the new Sam & Max game. The original Sam & Max Hit the Road from LucasArts was the first game that … Read more →

I hate to turn this blog into a whine, but that is how I am feeling of late. I've just had the two most stressful weeks of work i've ever had in my life, and next week doesn't promise to be much better.

My supervisor and the System Admin had his final day yesterday, which leaves me manning the fort by myself until the newly recruited one starts (probably in a week or so). I tried to get as much info as I could off the the now-former admin before he left, but I feel that i didn't get nearly … Read more →
