We started off the weekend by going to see Transformers on Friday night. I've got to say that I really enjoyed this movie, it's easily the best movie i've seen all year.
Especially after the disappointments of other anticipated blockbusters like Pirates 3, this movie was such a breath of fresh air. In my opinion, it was an almost perfect balance of comedy and action, and probably most important of all, despite the expectation placed upon it the movie did not take itself too seriously.
The only downer that i felt existed from the movie was the almost sickening product placements, especially in terms of the vehicles. It's not so bad viewing it here in Australia where most of the products aren't available to buy, but if i were living in the US, i think that it would have been a major detraction from my enjoyment of the film.
Nevertheless, Transformers is probably the only movie that i've seen this year that I actually would want to see again, which is probably the biggest complement that I can give it.
Moving on, the main event of this weekend that I was looking forward to was the grand final of our indoor football competition.
As i was still not really feeling 100% i decided again to play most of the game in goals. We had a shaky start, myself letting in a pretty poor goal in the first few minutes. However we recovered quickly and fired a few in to take us to a 3-1 half-time lead.
I hadn't had much to do in the first half, but the second half saw me make a few good saves. We eventually ran out the game 5-1 winners. So i've collected another 'Premiers' mug, adding to the one we collected over two years ago, and the runners-up one from not long after.
I also agree. Transformers ROCKED!!! It had everything, and I even didn't mind the product placements - go eBay!
Only a week after watching Transformers, i really want to go and see it again! I forgot about the eBay product placement, although i'm not 100% sure if it was a product placement because what other auction site is the public audience aware of as much as eBay?
