I can't believe i forgot to blog this yesterday, but it deserves its own entry anyway.

Well that week went quick. Other than the usual work, I made some unexpected purchases in the past few days.

As alluded to in the last entry, I ended up going and buying another pair of new indoor boots after the last new pair proved unsatisfactory. The new(er) pair i bought was a silver pair of Lottos, and although I don't like the silver colour, they fit my foot really well. The boots seem a bit fragile, so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't last me even a year, but here's hoping.

Back at work this week after the week off last week. After the really good (albeit really busy) week off it was depressing on Sunday night contemplating having to go back in the morning.

There is a silver lining though: tomorrow is the Ekka public holiday for most of Brisbane, something i wish i thought of when planning my leave because i probably would have taken Monday and Tuesday off as well to link into it!

One of my goals I wanted to accomplish during my week off from work was to get in some good gaming. Unfortunately, today was my first opportunity i've had to actually do it.

This afternoon and tonight I finished the GDI campaign of Command & Conquer 3. Overall, i was quite disappointed in this game, especially after playing Supreme Commander.

Today saw the start of our week of holidays. I say 'today' because last night it was my turn to do the monthly server maintenance for work.

Yesterday also saw me play two games of indoor following our bye week last week. We played two games because we were asked to help fill in a few players for a friend's team earlier in the day, but as it turned out, none of their players were fit to play, so me, Wil, Eric, as well as two other fillers played the game for them.

Finally, about three months after i've completed the main design work on it, the Bribie Island website that I've designed, implemented, and hosted is finally live on the internet.

To be honest, i'm quite happy with the design. I think it conveys the right ambience for what the site is for, as well as it being totally 100% valid XHTML and CSS.

In the past few days, i signed up to a Facebook account. I've heard good things from some of the IT people that I know and blogs that I follow, and probably the best compliment that I keep hearing is that it doesn't suck anywhere near as much as MySpace.

I've been very busy the past few days. Last week we ordered a few First Aid kits from St. John Ambulance, one for home and one for the car, which were delivered to work on Friday.

Very coincidentally, driving on the way home from work that day we witnessed a pretty bad head-on collision between two cars on a notorious corner on a main road going into the city. In the last week or so, i've added a few more goodies to Trogdor (the computer I built recently). These are the last upgrades/additions that I've got planned for the thing, at least for the short to medium-term future.

I added another 2GB of RAM to the thing to bring it up to a total of 4GB (totally overkill, but the prices of RAM will only go up from here-on-out, so better to get it now than later), and also added a 500GB Western Digital Hard Disk to serve as my main storage drive.

Last week at work was a tough one. The new IT Manager was unfortunately very ill, so I was left to man the fort alone. Added to that me having to try and deal with absolutely incompetent web designers who can't even program PHP with the register_globals setting being off (which has been a default PHP setting for 5 years!!), meant that I did not have a overly pleasant week last week.
