Favourite TV Shows & Downtime

Firstly, you may have noticed that this site has been down a bit over the past few days. My hosting account has been moved onto new servers, so while DNS propagates around the world, it looked like the site was down (geek stuff, so don't worry about it). Hopefully everything should be ok now, but obviously i'm not very happy with my host at the moment.

Edit: Site is now back up, but the gallery seems to be on the blink. Welcome back, and hopefully that will be resolved shortly, but I'm not too worried about it.

After my recent … Read more →

Movies & Clubbing

Today Despina and I went out to Carindale to go to Big W to take advantage of their big DVD sale that they've got going. Unfortunately the one movie that I really wanted to get from it was surprisingly sold out. Not happy.

Added to that utterly depressing performances from Arsenal recently, and banging my head on our wardrobe, I did not have a good start to the day.

Anyway, I did buy a couple of movies: I got a double pack containing Fantastic Four, and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen for a cheap $20 (right). Despite wanting to, … Read more →

Weird Al!!! & MySpace

Weird Al Yankovic - Straight Outta LynwoodI can't believe it, I am so ashamed.

Most who know me, know that I am a huge Weird Al Yankovic fan. Massive. It was fantastic seeing his show a few years ago when he finally came and did a proper tour here down under.

I am so ashamed that I have seemingly missed all the latest exciting news. Al is going to release another album next month, entitled Straight Outta Lynwood. Even better is that he has made a few new songs totally available for free download.

Firstly is a parody of James Blunt's You're Beautiful, called … Read more →

Nando’s Addiction

NandosHi, my name is Lucas, and I'm a Nando's addict.

Over the past year-or-so, I have become addicted to Nando's, a spicy Portuguese chicken restaurant/take-away. Previously hating anything with spice, I first came to love their 'wussy' lemon & herb burgers, and since attempting the 'mild' spiced ones, I am now a solid 'hot' eater, even sprinkling the side of chips with the hot sauce.

Right now I find myself having Nando's at least once a week, sometimes even up to 3 or 4 times. I would now classify it as an addiction. Although it's probably better than the… Read more →

Frustrating Football & Grossness

Gilberto ScoresIt's been a frustrating last 24 hours of football. After going to Church last night, via Nandos we went over my parents' place to watch the first few games of the English premier League. My team Arsenal, playing their first competitive match at their new stadium, only managed a 1-1 draw against relative minnows Aston Villa.

It was a totally frustrating game that I won't really go into.

Right after midday today was our indoor game, which we got pretty much hammered 6-2. The other team wasn't really that good, but were more persistent and took their chances well.

So … Read more →

Designing & Working

I've had a dreary few days since my last blog entry. Wednesday was the Ekka public holiday, and I spent nearly the whole day beginning a design on a new website for the Bribie Island Youth Centre project that the Church is working towards. You can have a special sneak preview here. Despina helped out greatly with the graphics. Hopefully within a few weeks it will be up and running with its own domain.

Other than that, I have just really worked. Thursday and Friday were not too bad work-wise; i think most people were there to see themselves … Read more →

Blogging & Drained

Blogging ImageToday I was thinking about 'blogs' themselves, and how nearly every public personality/media outlet now have them on their own websites: from radio shows to journalists to politicians, seemingly everyone has a blog.

When I started this blog two and a half years ago, there weren't that many blogs around. LiveJournal had been around for a bit, and blogger was beginning to come into its own, but still there wasn't that many people with blogs.

Previous to that, i didn't really see the point of a blog, but after setting up more for fun after I properly established this site… Read more →

Balls & No More Homepage…

I've had a unusually dreary last few days. Work as normal, and then just hanging around home otherwise.

Today I also bought my very first football for myself: it's an el-cheapo $10 ball from Rebel Sport. The pump that I bought along with it cost more than the ball itself! But still ~$20 for a ball and pump is pretty good.

Teamgeist all used at the World CupI am still wanting to get the ball that was used in the World Cup (the one with the revolutionary new panel layout, shown right), but all that the stores are selling at the moment are normal balls spray-painted … Read more →

RIP Shoutbox – What Next?

Question MarkAfter saying it was going to happen at the start of July, a few days ago my host finally upgraded the web-servers this site runs off to PHP5 (the MySQL databases however, still remain unchanged). As expected, a few things broke. Luckily this blog, the Gallery, and my own custom content management system that the site-proper uses has seemingly emerged intact.

The only casualty of the upgrade was the Shoutbox that was on the site homepage. The script was apparently not coded with quality, and has been abandoned by the developer, hence its incompatibility with the new version of … Read more →

Census Night 2006 & Zazz

2006 Australian CensusTonight is the 5-yearly Census of Population and Housing in Australia. If not sure about other countries, but here it is compulsory to fill out a census form for every household.

What is interesting about this year's census, is that for the first time we are given the option of filling out our form online. I promptly did ours on Sunday night, although technically we are supposed to do it tonight (but the ABS didn't not allow me to complete the online form before tonight, so I'm sure that they planned this in, in order for them to take some … Read more →
