New Years

So starts 2006. Happy New Years to everyone. Is it just me, or does everyone else hate how every new year we have to start writing the new date? We just barely got used to writing the last year, and then they make us write a different year; the nerve! I'm mainly peeved off because for some reason I don't like the way I draw my 6s.

As with most people, I made a new years resolution. This year my resolution was not to make a new years resolution. In doing that i've already failed at my resolution and now … Read more →

2005: Year in Review

It's that time of year again! Yes, this is my 'Year in Review' entry. This year proved to be an interesting and fulfilling one, yet stressful one. 2005 for me was a year of many 'lasts': last semester of uni, the last as a student, last of the Star Wars movies (please don't laugh!), and probably most important of all, it will have been the last full calendar year before I get married.

For those who aren't familiar with my 'Year in Review', it is the highlights of my year that I have taken from my own blog entries, with … Read more →

Christmas and Afterwards

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

Christmas 2005 has come and gone. A expected the day itself was extremely busy: went to the 8:30 Church service at St George, followed by attending 3 separate relatives residences for Lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, which finished at approximately 10pm.

The most notable of my presents this year was a poker set complete with chips and a couple of decks of cards. Although I never play for money or anything, I still enjoy a little competetive card play, and the chips in the set make it pretty fun.

Today we spent a very tiring … Read more →

Holidays and Christmas Approaching

Santa and Reindeer Queen St MallI know I haven't mentioned it, but it is that time of year again: this wonderful time where a few people still celebrate Christ Jesus coming into our world. The picture on the right was taken in the City where they have a pretty impressive Santa and reindeer wire-skeletons lit up with little blue lights hanging from the Queen St mall roof. (please no Santa vs. Jesus flame wars here)

We did the majority of our Christmas shopping this week on Monday and Tuesday night in the city. The City was open late till 9 all this week, and although … Read more →

Football in the Groin!

Most people remember when looking at the title of this blog The Simpson's Episode with the film competition of the film of Hans Moleman getting hit by a football in the groin, with Homer crying out "Football in the Groin!, Football in the Groin!" for it to win the competition.

Very painfully, today in football (proper football that is) i did indeed cop a football to the groin. Very painful it was, I have not experienced one in quite a while, iirc my last ball-to-the-balls (if you excuse the description) was back when I used to play futsal a few … Read more →

Reference!

Today I received quite a pleasant surprise. Andrew emailed me today and informed me that this blog had been referenced on http://raphael.doxos.com/, one of the biggest bloggers in the Orthodox Blogosphere.

See the specific entry and comments here. I find it amazing how half a world away in North Carolina (USA), that someone unbeknownst to me actually discovered and linked to me, it is really flattering. If you read the comments you will see how it came about.

Well that was my highlight for the day.

It seems that they are ironing out a few bugs in the … Read more →

News: GTA Cronulla, VSU, Konfabulator

No doubt everyone has seen on the news what's been happening in Sydney for the past few days. Without taking any sides, it is absolutely atrocious. Everyone that has been involved should feel ashamed on themselves for bringing Australia, and its reputation, into such disrepute.

Violence has never, and never will be the answer to any problems, whether it be by Lebanese gangs, or redneck Anglo Yobbo mobs.

To bring a bit of lighter stuff into this situation, the image below was making the rounds in the email forwarding circles today. Although done in really bad taste, i still … Read more →

Earning My Wage & PHOTOshare

Today was was a really busy and hectic day at work, probably the worst I have faced so far. Why? Today was the day that we changed phone systems from the old PABX one to the new Mitel IP phones, and plus I was the only full-time IT Support guy in the Brisbane office, as the others had gone to Sydney for the day.

I arrived at work to the lovely screeching sound of UPS alarms to find the servers being out of power and basically all computing systems down, including the phones. The UPS had kicked and safely shut-down … Read more →

Email, Suits, Indoor, and Hotness

I know I haven't blogged in a while, but here it goes. Please forgive any grelling and/or spamatical errors, as i'm quite tired.

Last week work was a bit interesting, partly because of the amount of spam and virus emails came through the company. Especially rampant of late were ones containing the Sober worm that took the form of an email from the CIA or FBI.

For some reason on Friday, the mail server chucked a fit and didn't work, and various things had to be uninstalled then reinstalled to get it back to proper functionality. Consequently, the office was … Read more →

Firefox 1.5

Today the next major release of the Firefox web-browser, v1.5, was released. I am typing this entry out for the second time because Firefox 1.5 crashed when I tried to spell check the entry with the Spellbound extension. After updating the extension, it works fine, so that was an issue with Spellbound and not Firefox itself :).

Anywho, the new release contains some improvements, but not really any ground-breaking new features (it is only a x.5 release). Among the new stuff is drag-and-drop rearrangement of browser tabs, better updating, and one very unheralded but really useful feature of having the … Read more →
