Losing Streak

It seems the views for this blog have returned to numbers that I would classify as 'normal' in the past week or so, after the extraordinary high numbers that occurred a few weeks ago.

Plans for the Wedding are rolling along: the bed etc has been ordered, we've picked up the invites from the printers and I plan to have a look at suits in the next week or so.

Played indoor today, and we lost again: this time literally by a last second goal that sunk us 3-2. That means that since our semi-final quite a few weeks ago, … Read more →

Sony Morons & I love GMail

I'm sure many of you have seen in the news recently Sony BMG getting in a whole basket full of trouble over bundling dangerous spyware with some of their music CDs that they released for the purpose of Digital Rights Management (DRM). This surprised me a lot, I never thought a massive corporation would stoop to such depths over copy-protection and DRM, and that Sony would be so stupid to think that they could get away with it; to basically infect someone's computer with virus/spyware like activity which leaves a backdoor open for others to exploit. I tell you I … Read more →

Creeping Up Quickly & Idolatry

Man are these days flying by. We have just past the 3 month marker until the wedding. This weekend the unit is getting painted, and hopefully soon we'll have the timber laminate flooring down.

I have to get on-top of other things, such as arranging suit hire and much much more. I've been meaning to draw up a solid 'to do' list because it seems that about 3 times a day i remember or think of something else that needs to be done.

In continuing the Australia-qualifying-for-the-World-Cup thing, here's something that was forwarded to me this week:

Australia in the World Cup!

It was an amazing two games with the finale stretching as far as it could. Tonight Australia beat Uruguay 1-0, and since Uruguay won 1-0 in Montevideo, after 90 minutes of normal time and another 30 minutes of extra time, Australia qualified for our first World Cup since 1974 by winning the resulting penalty shoot-out 4-2.

Mark Schwarzer was the hero, saving two of the penalties, after Marco Bresciano had levelled the aggregate score with a first half strike.

I can't wait to next year to cheer them on with the usual countries I support: France and Sweden.… Read more →

Passport & SNL Jeapordy

I haven't blogged in a while, because nearly each time that I've been in front of a computer i've been a too busy, or so very tired that I couldn't have put sentence a properly together.

Anyway, this week I've applied for my passport. It cost me 172 bucks just to apply, which is the biggest rip out. In my opinion, every citizen of this country should be entitled to a passport free of charge. I'm a full Australian citizen born here, i pay may taxes and such, and I shouldn't have to fork out another $172 just to be … Read more →

Arsenal’s Records Safe for Another Year

As a staunch Arsenal supporter, it is a very rare occasion that I support Manchester United going into a game, let alone celebrate when they win one. However on the weekend I did both. Why? Because they played, and subsequently beat Chelsea.

I was beginning to get worried that Chelsea might break Arsenal's superb records from two seasons ago: firstly going 49 games unbeaten in the premiership, and secondly and most important of all, going a whole season unbeaten, which hadn't happened since the 19th century before Arsenal did it.

Chelsea was on 40 games unbeaten in the Premiership, and … Read more →

Free Software Alternatives

The high amount of views for this blog continues. Judging from the amount of people that posted comments on the last post (thanks to all who did btw), I have ~20 readers (9 distinct people who posted comments x ~2 for the people who viewed and didn't post, and rounded off). To be honest that's a bit more than I expected, but that still doesn't count for, at the time of writing, around 170 views, especially considering people having access to an RSS feed and all.

Anywho, I thought today i might devote a blog entry to the topic of … Read more →

Star Wars Ep III DVD (Edited!)

In the last week I have gathered and done so much that is blog-worthy, I'm a little aghast at how to fit it all in and still get to sleep at a sane hour, so I'll probably spread it out over the next few entries.

Probably the biggest highlight of this week so far, is getting Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith on DVD. Needless to say I've been waiting for this since May. Buying the DVD was a story in itself, but for the sake of not rambling, let's say that I ended up with the DVD … Read more →

Runners Up

Today was the Grand Final of the indoor football season. Surprisingly, today I was able to play. As mentioned before i probably wasn't going to play because I hadn't played 5 games for the team in the normal season because of me braking my foot, and thus couldn't play in the finals. However it turned out that we were playing Nick's brother's team (who I broke my foot playing against), who consented for me to play.

Runners Up MugWe lost the game 7-4 after throwing the game away twice. They got up two goals before we came back to be level 3-3. … Read more →

Released: iTunes Music Store etc

The biggest (geeky) news of today was that Apple have finally opened the Australian iTunes Music Store, an online store using the iTunes program that allows Australians to legally purchase and download music. It's about darn time, as we have been devoid of such a store for too long. A single track is priced at $1.69 and most albums at $16.99, which is far, far cheaper than buying most CDs.

However, it seems that the Sony-BMG record label is still holding out putting their catalogue and their artists on iTunes. It'll only be a matter of time though, after they … Read more →
