Easing Into Gaming Season: Warhead & de Blob

Crysis: WarheadSince the huge game wave that was the latter part of last year, other than Smash Bros. and the occasional Telltale Games episodic, nothing really much has been released since January that has really interested me game-wise.

So we're coming into game season now, and i've recently gotten the expansion to last year's epic Crysis, Crysis: Warhead. I enjoyed it, but for me it was much of the same as the original, which you can't really complain about considering it is an expansion.

Unfortunately, what also was the same was the general buginess of the game that I experienced … Read more →

Wall-E Was Awesome

WALL-E posterFinishing the working week, last night we went and saw WALL-E.

I'll leave out my complaints about having to wait almost two months to legally see this movie in Australia following the US release, but this movie is fantastic.

It was a masterpiece of story-telling. The fact that much of the movie does not have any dialogue at all, and that they managed to bring so much life and emotion to what is essentially a robot, is really amazing.

It's the first Pixar film i've really enjoyed since Finding Nemo (although I haven't seen The Incredibles), and it … Read more →

STFU LucasArts

The Force Unleashed: Now NOT on PC!!!!/>:(from convention, the acronym in the title actually stands for Stuff The Force Unleashed, LucasArts. *warning! angry Star Wars fan rant!!*

Being a Star Wars fan, I normally gobble up anything that Lucasfilm, and especially LucasArts (George Lucas' game company) throw out there.

But this time I am pretty p'oed.

I play a fair bit of games, and my preferred hardcore gaming platform (sorry Wii, you are definitely not hardcore) is the PC. Normally that isn't a problem, because other than the exclusive mostly manufacturer-developed titles (ala Halo for the XBox, Metal Gear Solid … Read more →

Back Into Things

This weekend was the first 'normal'-ish weekend we've had in a while, and being not well for the past few.

Probably because of that, there hasn't been too much blogworthy material of late. Last night I ended up going into the the Pig'N'Whistle in the City to watch the Arsenal game with a few of the guys from the Arsenal Australia supporter's club. We're going to England later this year, and Arsenal Australia have very awesomely arranged tickets for us to a Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium (which is normally not an easy thing to do!).

It was … Read more →

Sick

Well i've just spent the second working day in a week home sick. It seems like it's going around at the moment, but that doesn't make for much of a consolation.

My body has always had a pretty good immune system, and it's usually been the case that I manage to avoid these type of things. So it's quite unusual that in the past year i've eventually succumbed to most of them. In these cases, having a strong immune system sucks, because the situation ends up being that my body tries to fight the virus for about half a week … Read more →

Flag Day: We Should Change the Australian Flag

Current Australian FlagIt's not often that I do two blog entries in one day, but i think that both this issue and the previous entry deserve to be separated.

Not many Australian's will know or realise it, but today in Australia is Flag Day. I thought that I would take this opportunity to express my thoughts on Australia's flag. *puts on flame suit*

I know that a lot of people will vehemently disagree with me on this, but it is my own opinion that the flag of this great country should be changed. Now before the obvious responses to that … Read more →

Google Releases It’s Web Browser: Chrome

Google Chrome LogoThe big IT news of the past few days is the beta release of the first ever web browser by Google, titled Chrome. This browser has been in the rumour mill for years, so it really doesn't come as a surprise to a many in the industry, but nevertheless this is still a pretty big announcement.

In my opinion, overall I don't think it is really a good idea, and after trying it out myself i'm not anywhere near sold on the browser (although you've got to keep in mind that this is still a beta release - but … Read more →

Charity Dinners & Bribie Festivals

What? Thursday already? It's probably a little late to do a weekend-review blog entry, but as they say, better late than never.

On Saturday night we went to a Charity dinner for Fr. Themi and the Paradise Kids 4 Africa mission. It was a good night (although i was disappointed at missing out on winning a Playstation 3 ;)), and definitely a great cause. I strongly encourage people to consider donating to them (they even have a schmick new website!).

Sunday was the Bribie Island Paniyiri (Greek Festival), and that saw us spending most of the day volunteering there. Like … Read more →

Tropic Thunder

Tropic ThunderMy patience has been tested in the past week, as i wait on eagerly anticipated responses on a few things that i can't really mention here.

Other than that, there really hasn't been much to blog about at all.

Last night we saw Tropic Thunder. I really enjoyed it, although it did meander at parts in the middle of the movie. Robert Downey Jr. was awesome, playing a multi-Oscar winning Australian actor playing a black army sergeant. He definitely was the stand-out performer in the movie, and all the little Australian jokes were well received by most of the … Read more →

Clone Wars, Movies, & Work Disasters

It's been quite a recent few days. Wednesday was the local public holiday for the Ekka, and very sadly it is the last one before Christmas. The Ekka holiday is always a bitter-sweet one in that regard, but i'll still take it nonetheless.

The night before the holiday we went and saw Wanted. I had low expectations of the movie, but in the end i was quite satisfied in turning off my brain and enjoying the pretty explosions and senseless violence. So I was pleasantly surprised by that one. The last line of the movie was quite strange though: … Read more →
