Back to Work

Today i start work on my COMP3804 stuff. I'll have a lazy start by just downloading and installing MS Visual Studio.NET and really just planning what I need to get done.

Other than that, tonight i will be going to another lecture, this one at St. Paul's Antiochian Orthodox Church at Wooloongabba on 'The Antichrist'. Looks like i'll be skipping Greek school again.

On Saturday, everybody at Church went out for dinner/coffee after the Liturgy. I really enjoyed it and think we should do it more often. Too bad i didn't bring the camera. Would've had some good photos.… Read more →

Sore. Really really sore.

I am in pain. The whole day yesterday i spent at my Dad's work doing a lot of physical work. Thanks so much to Wil for coming and helping me out. We moved a lot of bricks into a skip, table-tops, filing cabinets, and all this up and down various flights of stairs. I now have a sudden appreciation of how Mark and Lloyd could do that 5 or 6 days a week. Muscles are sore that i didn't even know i had.

I am so not built to do anything with my hands (other than type).

On Tuesday I … Read more →

Semester 1 Results & Greece Win Euro 2004

I am absolutely shocked and stunned. This morning Greece won the Euro 2004 football tournament. Absolutely unbelievable. They beat the hosts Portugal 1-0 in the final. Greece was 150:1 to lift the trophy at the start of the tournament, it is absolutely phenomenal that they actually did it. I stayed at home and watched it with Will, while Dad and Stephania went to the Greek club. My sister won the raffle, the prize of which was a Brisbane Strikers jersey autographed by the whole team.(wow thats worth a lot!! lol yeah right...)

Stephania took the camera and took photos and … Read more →

Converted

In the last week or so I have been converted. For my entire internet-surfing existence i have not strayed from using MS Internet Explorer as my preferred browser. Since experimenting with it on RedHat, I am now a fully fledged FireFox convert.

The main reason why I have converted over to FireFox is that it has a vastly superior handling of text and text sizes than IE. This has become a problem for me over the last few months because of the very high resolution of my laptop. Internet Explorer's 'text size' setting is almost totally useless on sites that … Read more →

Is Collina Skeletor??!

Who would have believed it. I woke up this morning at 4:45am to watch the Euro 2004 semi-final between Greece and The Czech Republic. Greece won 1-0 in extra time, and are now into the Euro 2004 final. They were outsiders to even qualify (let alone get passed the the group stage), and now in only their second major tournament in the country's history, they are in the final against the host nation Portugal.

GO THE GREEKS!!

Officiating the match this morning was once again the ever-present most famous referee in the world, Pierluigi Collina, with the match being his … Read more →

COMP3804 exam grade

I went in to uni this morning to receive my COMP3804 exam mark. An empty email box over the past week meant that i did not fail the exam which is a plus. No re-enrolling for me.

I got 68.5% for the exam. I'm satisfied with that but also slightly dissapointed. This means that my grade for the whole year-long course is now capped at a 5. Only 1.5% more and it would have been a 6. I hate being that close. I would rather it had been 65 or 63 to have my grade capped at a 5 instead … Read more →

Graduated from Jedi Academy

After 2 and a bit solid days of playing, i've finished Jedi Academy. My verdict: Graphics were good, the pick your own character and lightsaber(s) was pretty cool. The storyline was pretty garbage though. I wish they could think of better storylines, and maybe include real people acting cut-scenes like in Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. I thought they were pretty cool, like the last three Wing Commanders.

If you didn't know, here is the ancestry of this line of games (not including add-on packs):

Star Wars: Dark Forces (1994??)
Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II (1998)
Star Wars: … Read more →

Installing RedHat

Just after i finish typing this entry i am going to install RedHat 9 on my laptop. I'm hoping i won't have to reinstall windows in the process. If you don't hear from me in a while you know why...

On the weekend i purchased some games. It really has been a long time (a year and a half really...) since i bought a game. I think i got a bargain: i went to EB at Carindale, and got Enter the Matrix and Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. A year ago both of those would be $200+, but … Read more →

Gysdintu Strikes Back!

I have completed a round of site updates. Of course the biggest thing is the new intro. Post comments about it here if you want.

Typing this out now i think i may have done this intro a bit prematurely, as i'm not sure whether i have passed the exam for COMP3804 yet, and may yet have to drop out of the course and re-enrol in it all over again. I hope not. We can find out our exam marks this coming Thursday, we actually have to go into uni and see them to get our marks(why???). They said they … Read more →

Finished!

So is the end of semester 1 2004, probably the fastest and blurriest of all my semesters as uni. I'm already busy making another action-packed intro and a few minor site updates before i get crackin' on my long list of 'to do-s' for my holidays. Stay tuned over the next few days for that. I hope everyone else has/is gone/going well their exams etc.

The exam yesterday went ok. Could've done better but i'm mostly sure that i at least passed. … Read more →
