More Football & Geekiness

Of late it seems like my life is revolving around football (soccer) and computers. Granted my occupation is computers, so that's a given. But football lately, and also into the immanent future, is also massive.

On the weekend was the FA Cup final of Liverpool vs. West Ham United. We watched it after my brother's engagement on Saturday night, and it was a fantastic game; from a neutral's point of view it was probably the best FA Cup final in recent history. Liverpool eventually won the game on penalties after the game with extra-time finished 3-3.

I think West Ham … Read more →

News: Football, Sketchups & Budgets

Lots of blogworthy stuff lately so this might be a big one.

Firstly to football: As you may remember, due to the current Arsenal stadium having just finished its last season, they were selling the seats from the stadium to any fan that wanted to by one, which me being a massive Arsenal fan, i did.

Today unfortunately, i got this email:

Dear Lucas Costi,

It is with great regret that the Club announces that we are unable to sell any Highbury seats to you. We have been informed that all of the Highbury seats, apart from the Directors' … Read more →

Owies! & and Highbury Farewell

I am home today, taking the day off work because I am again incapacitated after a game of indoor last night. More on that later.

I had a pretty enjoyable weekend, on Saturday I missed out on most of the usual washing and cleaning as I went to my parents place and helped them set up a new computer that they had recently acquired.

Went to Church on Saturday night, and via Hungry Jack's, everybody came back to our place and watched Blade 2. As Andrew blogged, we had the weird experience of trying alcohol with vanilla coke. … Read more →

The End of Things & Domains

First of all it is the end of the working week, which is very welcome. Although this was only a four day working week, it felt like much longer. I think its because at the moment at work i'm doing some stuff that is a bit tedious, but still necessary.

Also tonight was the shutting-down (permanently for the time-being) party thing for the OCYF Drama Group. Although Despina and I had out-grown the group in the past few years and haven't had much of an active role in it since 2003, it still holds a special place in both of … Read more →

Long Live the Long Weekends

..unfortunately they never seem to live long enough. I'm in a little depressed mood that we have just finished our fourth and last public holiday of late, which made for four fantastic four-day working-weeks in a row.

I had a pretty good weekend; did the usual washing and cleaning on Saturday, went to Church Saturday night. We went to Pancake Parlour at the old Church in the city for dinner (Andrew somehow negotiated his way out of us all going to Sizzler, which he dislikes for some strange reason) to see off a few people who are going away. Wasn't … Read more →

Happy/Unhappy Hosting

It's been an interesting few days in terms of this website. People may be wondering on why they're unable to post comments on this blog at the moment. About two nights ago the server that my website is hosted on came under a DOS (Denial of Service) Attack.

In order to respond to this attack, part of the counter-measures used involved disabling all the non-essential items on the server. This involved disabling the stuff used to generate the verification code image needed to enter comments.

I am aware of the irony of me implementing image verification to stop spammers, whilst … Read more →

Gunning for Glory

I got up really early today (around 5am) to watch the second leg of Arsenal's semi-final Champions League tie against Spanish side Villareal.

Arsenal played terribly: from the first minute they seamed content to sit back and defend their slim 1-0 from the first leg at Highbury. I really hate when they play like that: sitting really deep in their own half and letting the opposition attack them relentlessly. It's a dangerous game to play with only a 1-0 aggregate lead.

They luckily held on for most of the match until the last last minute, when, as usually happens, they … Read more →

Easter 2006

I know it's about two days too late now, but ah well. 'Christ is Risen!' to everybody.

Redurrected Christ

Come receive the light from the unwaning light, and glorify Christ, Who has risen from the dead

Holy Week was almost a blur, but it was a good one. As mentioned before it was a kind of strange one working full-time and also being married. But it was good in that we chose our timing on when to go to Church and not family, which meant that we actually got to most of the services on time, or before time in order to … Read more →

Resting

I think these few days before Easter have really taken it out of me. I'm exhausted. But as they say, it's always darkest before the dawn.

It seems my anti-spam stuff on this blog has worked, not one spam comment so far. I hope i'm not speaking to soon...

I've had a fairly good Holy Week so far, but it is a bit weird having to work during the day and then basically go straight to Church afterwards. I'm so used to having uni or school which gave me enough time to sort of relax and chill-out a bit before … Read more →

Holy Week Begins

I promised a life-blog-entry, so here it is.

For the past week I had really been looking forward to the Aussie Easter weekend that we've just had. Up until this year i've never really appreciated these two public holidays. During school and uni the Aussie Easter weekend had always been a convenient time to catch up on assignments, essays, study and alike, so I never really saw it as anything to look forward to.

Working full-time this year, the two public holidays which create this wondrous 4-day weekend are an amazing opportunity to relax and catch your breath.

I, on … Read more →
