Football on Precipice & Poker Winners

World Cup Germany 2006I'm typing this entry whilst waiting for the very first game of the 2006 World Cup in Germany to kick off. So begins a month of fantastic football, and for us in Australia, a month of late nights, early mornings, and overall very tired days. I'm really looking forward to it though.

Poker Winner: RolandoTonight we just had our usual weekly poker night that we have over our place. At the end of the night's game, it was an epic battle between Rolando with the very short stack, and Tim with the very tall stack. Amazingly, Rolando doubled up many times and … Read more →

Expensive Transport & ZipGenius

Nothing much been happening lately. I've been slowly working through my Family Guy Season 4 DVDs that I got last week. It's easily the most hilarious season to date, probably because they went so much farther down the politically incorrect and just plain random paths than previously attempted. Absolute gold.

This week has also revealed to me how expensive it is to maintain a car. Registration, as well as a service including 3 new tires has cost us quite a fair bit just this week. Luckily you don't have to pay for either of those that regularly.

Zip GeniusOn the geeky … Read more →

Bug Squashing & Battling Win

I've spent a significant portion of the weekend on my computer attempting to fix a few bugs pertaining to this blog. First on my list was trying to fix the comment bug mentioned previously. I'm pretty sure i've squashed it, but I must still fix the other fields in the comment form. Again, please let me know if anything is screwy with making comments.

Last night we went to Church as usual, welcoming back Gabby after she returned from overseas by going to Hungry Jacks (Burger King outside of Australia). We had an interesting conversation on the naming … Read more →

Another Week Gone & New Games

Well there goes another working week. I just had an enjoyable night with the guys playing poker and watching The Family Guy fourth season that I got on DVD this week.

Tonight I actually won at poker, after getting beaten by my other half last week.

Tonight I have also done a little site update. I have added two new games to the games section: Frogger and N-Blox (aka Tetris). Enjoy!… Read more →

Ranting! English, Farewells, & @#!$* IE & HTML

Mood: Not happy for many reasons.

Warning: Long entry full of ranting and raving.

Firstly, Saturday night. As Andrew has included in his blog, our Church is in the middle of some problems, mainly over some of the elder Greeks having issue with some (really minor amounts) of English coming into the services, which apparently came to a head with the recent Holy Week.

Fr's sermon on Saturday night, coincidently but appropriately falling on the Sunday of the Blind Man, addressed this, describing those being selfishly spiritually 'blind', who could not see nor care about the the future of … Read more →

X-Men 3

Went and saw X-Men 3 last night, and although I was very impressed with it, and without giving too much away, I felt robbed of any kind of closure from the trilogy.

Judging by the storyline and ending, it is pretty obvious that they are wanting to make more of these movies, but this being the closing chapter of the set trilogy and with no further movies planned at this point, I expected at least a significant bit of closure from the last of these 3 movies. Somewhat ironically enough, only the first X-Men movie was the only one out … Read more →

Changing Avatars

There comes a time in a geek's life, where one must make a few changes. Sure, things could remain the same, but deep down one knows that one must move on.

In this I am referring to my seldom-used avatar, the image next to my name that is displayed on all forum and bulletin board posts, instant message clients and alike.

Lucas old AvatarMy existing avatar (shown right) was the 'South Park Lucas' character that has featured in many of the intros that i once developed, and has served me well for almost 2 years.

Unfortunately among other things, my rapidly declining … Read more →

Action Packed Weekend

I had a pretty action packed weekend

Let's start with Friday. I finished work with glee, came home and eventually welcomed the various people who came around to play what is now our weekly poker game. I say 'eventually' because every single one of them was late. Somewhat forgivable for the Greek because it is our blood, but the rest (probably also owing to their own ethnic backgrounds) shouldn't have had an excuse ;). Nah, really its cool.

Come to think about it, we are a strange bunch, and really the epitome of multiculturalism. There is myself half-Greek half-Cypriot, another … Read more →

Cheering Up: Henry Stays & Family Guy

Over the past 24 hours i've been occupying myself with things to take my mind off Arsenal's heartbreaking loss in the final of the Champions League yesterday morning.

A few things have cheered me up. In the past 5 mins reports are coming through that Arsenal's talismanic striker and captain, Thierry Henry, is set to stay at the club despite being widely believed to be leaving for another club, most likely Barcelona, after this past season. This is fantastic news for Arsenal fans, as the club would never be the same if the all-time top-scorer were to go.

Another thing … Read more →

Heartbroken: Arsenal Lose CL Final

I really am. What a nightmare of game it was too. The Arsenal goal-keeper was (fairly) sent off in the 18th minute for bringing down an opposition player going for goal, so Arsenal had to play with 10 men for the vast majority of the game.

Arsenal even went in front 1-0 after that, and held onto that lead until the 76th minute when Barcelona equalised and subsequently scored the winner in the 81st. I wouldn't be as upset if Barcelona totally outplayed us, even with Arsenal playing with 10 men. The truth is that Arsenal could have sealed the … Read more →
