Keep it up

Having broken my foot on Sunday, I haven't been up to too much. Over the past few days I have just had to make sure that i keep my foot up, because each time i let it down, even just down sitting, it starts hurting and throbbing like crazy. It is also still really swollen. As a result, really the only time I get up off the couch is to go to the toilet, to have a bath (i can't safely or comfortably have a shower on one foot), or to go to bed.

Thus my existence really has basically … Read more β†’

The End of Uni & Broken Foot

Well, I don't know where to begin. What a past few days. *Warning: long post*

Just to let everyone know, I have broken my foot, so that's probably why you won't be seeing me much anytime soon. But more on that later.

Saturday was my last ever uni exam. That's it for uni. No more uni. I've got to say that finishing uni was a little depressing. The exam was at 2:30, and I went in there around 10ish so I could study for it in the library. Sitting in one of the study cartels in the library, I was … Read more β†’

Songs

Was listening to the radio lately and it came to me that all mainstream songs are almost inherently similar in terms of content.

Let me summarise the the categories that songs fall into:
- I'm in love, yay! πŸ™‚
- I'm in love, waaa! πŸ™
- Why did (she/he)/(I) leave (me)/(him/her)?!
- He/she is stupid, glad he/she is gone!
- Life is great! / what a wonderful world!
- Life sucks! / I hate my life! / world is terrible!
- Want to get guy(s)/girl(s) and (get with)/(have sex with)/(do drugs with) them.

I know it is a bit of … Read more β†’

2 down 1 to go

Today was my second last exam: HIST2609 which I had already passed. (see the entry from a few days ago)

The exam was at 5:45pm, but I there was a revision tute for COMP3501 on at 10, so I planned to go into uni for that and spend the rest of the day studying for the exam at uni before actually sitting it.

Went in for the tut-thing, and finally got my marks back for the COMP3501 assignment that i've been waiting for ages for. We got 19/30, which I am not too happy with. I felt that they … Read more β†’

Cold and loving it

In the past few days winter has well and truly arrived. It has been really cold, and of course I am really enjoying this weather. The main reason why I so enjoy the cold, is that I can do something about it: put more clothes on; and plus also i don't sweat that much. With heat, and me being such a profuse sweater, there is nothing much you can easily do about it, except buy air-conditioning. But unfortunately that doesn't work outdoors.

Went to Church last night and went out afterwards. Today on MTV was a marathon of a show … Read more β†’

Only 4 hours of uni left + graduation

Site of the Day: Andrews blog http://pistevo.blogspot.com. Happy Andrew?? πŸ˜‰

Went and attended my HIST2602 (Empires) exam yesterday. I could have done better, but i was informed a few days beforehand that the assessment that I had already completed for that course had me sitting right on 50% overall, which meant that I had already passed. Thus I didn't take the exam all too seriously.

So this is a first for me: having already passed two out of my three courses even before the first exam. I might have already passed the third as well, but we still haven't … Read more β†’

Procrastination Personified: Site Redesign

Look ma! No tables! (well... almost)

If you haven't noticed, I just completed a complete site redesign. I have incorporated a more universal look and feel compared to the old design. The header of each page is now the same throughout the site (except of course for the name and by-line), and the consistent menu should allow for easier navigation.

For the main part of the site (ie the entire site excluding the blog and the gallery), I stopped using tables for page layout and completely replaced them with divs, with the layout controlled by a CSS style sheet. If … Read more β†’

Balding & Goal-Keeping

Although i've had the time recently, i haven't been in the mood for blogging.

Went for a haircut on Thursday, which of recent times has been a depressing experience. Why?: I am losing my hair. Not happy at all about it either. Over the past 6-12 months my hair has been steadily disappearing.

It's happening to my older brother as well. What makes it even more of an injustice, is that in my immediate family there is no history of early hair-loss. Dad didn't lose his hair till he was at least in his late 30s/early 40s, dad's father still … Read more β†’

RDMSs & study not going well

databases databases everywhere so let's all have a ... query?

Lame i know.

In the past few weeks I have installed a fair few more RDMSs (Relational DataBase Management Systems) on my computer. I already had Oracle 9i that I had used for some previous uni assignments, but recently I have installed MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, and also today Oracle 10g.

Why so many RDMSs? I like to play and muck around with them and the more I have experience using the better. Mostly it is so I don't forget how to use them. In my … Read more β†’

Futsal Fiascos

Very strange night at fustal last night. I'm not one to often get into arguments over playing a game, but last night it so happened that i got very irritated, and ended up making an enemy in the process.

This was in the mixed competition I play every week with Despina, and we ended up losing the game 3-2, me scoring both our goals. I generally played pretty well, often running circles around the opposition team. Obviously this young guy on the opposing team didn't really like that.

In the second half, as I broke free, once again bearing down … Read more β†’
