Website Development & Unlucky Indoor

So ends another weekend, and again it has flown by without me really taking a breath.

I have spent most of the weekend working on the website for the Church's Bribie Island Youth Centre project. It's almost finished, and hopefully it will go 'live' within the next few weeks. All my readers can have a sneak-peak of the website here. Any thoughts/comments/suggestions are appreciated. Special thanks to Despina who helped me out with all the imagery stuff.

Last night after Church we had a 'going away' thing for Con who is heading off to London to work for an … Read more →

Bad Mood, Waiting for Sonic

SonicFor the last dew days i've been in a bad mood. There are a few things that have ticked me off, but none of them all that serious or significant as to cause me to get in a bad mood.

Firstly, work has been pretty hectic. The other IT person in the company has been home sick the past few days which means that I'm having to cover a lot more things than I would normally have to.

Secondly, Arsenal are doing pretty crap at the moment. They expectedly lost the Carling Cup final to Chelsea on Sunday night (expectedly … Read more →

Past Week

I've been lazy in doing any entries this past week, so i'll attempt to catch up.

Work has been mostly normal last week. I've just embarked upon a massively tedious task that should keep me occupied for the next few weeks to say the least.

This past week i've also continued upon my two-and a-half-month-long quest to purchase a second nunchuck controller for the Nintendo Wii that we have. Since the console launch in early December, there has been an alarming shortage in stock for accessories. I managed to get myself an extra 'Wiimote' controller and classic controller, but the … Read more →

Anniversary Weekend

AnniversaryThis Costi household just had a very busy weekend. Yesterday we celebrated the one year anniversary of our wedding. I cannot begin to describe the insaneness of how quickly this one year has passed, but it has been amazing.

Before the wedding, the general consensus from the marriage seminars and everyone was that the first year of marriage is generally the hardest, and for us to be prepared for that.

I can honestly say that for us, this past year has been a blast. It has been the best year of my life, and the marriage has been anything … Read more →

Welcome Back TV

TelevisionThank goodness summer TV is over. Why can't any station put anything decent to watch on TV over the summer period here in this country?? All we had was cricket, B-grade movies and repeats of old, mostly crappy TV shows. I'm lucky that I had the Nintendo and DVDs to see it through.

Thus it's very good that, mainly starting this week, normal high-quality programming resumes. It's more than adequately demonstrated by the fantastic all-new episode line-up on tonight.

It starts off with How I Met I Mother, continues with Lost and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (SVU… Read more →

Scratch Off One Windows Annoyance

Despite my leaning towards Windows as my preferred operating system, I am more than happy to admit that it is definitely far from perfect. There are some things that, despite being so simple to fix or update, have not been corrected even with the now-released Windows Vista.

One of my main irks is the inability of Windows to allow you to rearrange the order of items in the taskbar to how you want it. The order of windows or programs in the taskbar is set as the order in which they are opened, which can be really annoying if you … Read more →

Gaming, Birthdays, Football

Not really that much has happened in the past few days. Friday night I went over to Michael's place to play some games. It was pretty good, mainly because it meant I could play against some formidable opposition; Des doesn't really give me too much trouble ;); I think she has only beaten me in Wii Tennis, and only once.

It also revealed how cool Rayman is multiplayer. I'm starting to get really really frustrated at Australia's crippling nunchuck shortage for the Wii. I hope Nintendo gets their act together and start sending us some big shipments real soon.

Turning Off PC Gaming?

Console vs PCIf there is one thing in which by purchasing the Nintendo Wii has changed my opinion on gaming (other than the Wii being totally cool), it is how much simpler and easier console gaming is compared to PC gaming.

It's always been that way, but historically i've always been more of a PC gamer than a console one. I totally skipped the previous generation of consoles (PS2, Gamecube, XBox), but continued playing games on my computer.

However now that i'm a responsible self-subsisting adult who has reacquainted himself with console gaming, I can see so many more advantages that console … Read more →

Birthday

Birthday CandlesNothing much has really happened over few days, except for yesterday, which was my Birthday. As the years go on, my birthday seems to feel less and less like an event. I guess that it's a combination of it not being a good thing any more (getting older that is), and also that there is no more childish excitement about it.

Yesterday I turned 24, which I think officially marks me departing the 'low-twenties' category, and sees me enter the 'mid-twenties' (in my opinion low is x0-x3, mid is x4-x6, and late is x7-x9, where 'x' is the decade).

Vista Released

Windows VistaThe big geek news this past week is the general consumer release of Windows Vista.

In the computing world this is of course a massive event. This is enhanced by the fact that it has been a long time in the making: it has been over five years since the release of Windows XP, making it the longest ever period between Windows releases. The APC writers regularly remind us that World War II was fought and won in less time (although if you count the time between releases, WWII was 1 year longer).

For a detailed and slightly technical run … Read more →
