First Experiences Using Ebay

eBay logoYou may remember me blogging about my very critical opinion on eBay a few months ago. You may then be surprised that I have used eBay three times in the past week, and my opinion of it has changed a little.

It all started last week that when stumbling around the internet I saw posted in a forum on Whirlpool that a local online store was selling the Nintendo 'Wavebird' wireless Gamecube controllers for a very cheap price. The Nintendo Wii i bought before Christmas is 100% backwards compatible with its predecessor's (the Gamecube) games and controllers. Because I thought … Read more →

Youth Conference Wrap-Up

Continuing on from my previous entry on the beginning of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia's 9th National Youth Conference, on Saturday and Sunday the Conference had it's final days.

On Saturday we went down to the Gold Coast and at St. Anna's the conference voted on some spectacularly general resolutions that even the most hypercritical person would find difficult not to vote for. After that we went to lunch at Ashmore's, which like last time, failed to impress me with the food.

After that we went on a boat trip from Marina Mirage up to Sanctuary Cove. On the … Read more →

National Youth Conference Begins

This Australia Day long weekend the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia is having it's 9th Youth Conference right here in Brisbane. It kicked off last night with Archbishop Stylianos and the Governor of Queensland opening the conference. It will finish on Sunday with the ordination of local boy (well now a bit older than a boy) Nic Brown into the priesthood.

After the official opening in the Church, last night was the formal opening dinner attended by deputy-premier Anna Bligh among other dignitaries. This youth conference sees the largest gathering of delegates at any National Youth Conference: over 480 from … Read more →

Summer Arrives on Greek Time

Summer HeatSummer has properly arrived in Brisbane over the last week or so. We finally have had our first sustained period of 30 degree plus weather, and of course I hate it. It's only about a month and a half late, so it must be running on Greek time (i.e. late!) this year.

Though I am grateful that it has taken a while coming, but I don't want 3 months of heat starting from now because that would suck. The air-conditioning has been, as always, the contraption that is helping me from going insane.

Speaking of insane, some of our neighbours … Read more →

Footballing Weekend

Queensland Roar GameIt's been pretty much a football weekend: Saturday night I went to the Queensland Roar game, today I played indoor, and tonight is the big Arsenal v Manchester United game.

I didn't do too much yesterday other than the usual washing and cleaning, although I did have enough time to finish off Donkey Kong Country. It's the first time I've actually managed to finish the whole game (i had it about 10 years ago on the SNES), although it was mainly thanks to some cheats. Thank you Mr Internet, I couldn't done with you 10 years ago.

Saturday night … Read more →

Paginated: Blog Script Update

One of the things that have peeved me off about this blog script (as well as a few others), is the script not paginating a long list of entries. For example, when I would go to list the month of last November, it would list all 30 entries one after another on the one page. If you did a search with a really generic term you could get hundreds on the one page.

Tonight i pulled my finger out and actually coded into the script the ability to break up a long list of entries into pages (in my case … Read more →

Wristy & Transfers

I've been out of blogging action since Sunday mainly because my right wrist has been killing me over the past few days. I suspect that it's from playing waaay too much Donkey Kong Country on the Nintendo over the weekend as well as possibly falling on it at football on Sunday morning.

Anywho, I get ahead of myself. On Saturday night we went to Church, and afterwards a fairly large group (not as large as last week though) went to Nando's for dinner. Nando's was of course very nice.

Our game of indoor on Sunday was at the unfriendly time … Read more →

Line Rider

Line RiderEvery now and then on the internet someone comes up with an idea that is so absolutely fantastic, but so amazingly simple that you wonder why you didn't think of it first.

Although technically speaking flash games don't necessarily need to be confined to the internet to have success, this game has spread like wildfire over the internet, even to the point that the official site for it now seems to be, at the current moment, crumbling under the pressure.

What I am talking about is of course 'Line Rider' (official site: http://www.official-linerider.com/). The game is simple enough: draw … Read more →

Writing

WritingAt work today I had to use a pen to write something down, and at that moment I realised something: I hardly ever write any more.

Now I don't mean I hardly ever write action-adventure novels any more (lol), but rather in the past year and a bit it has been a rare occasion in which I have to pick up a pen or pencil and actually write something down on paper.

Since I have finished uni I don't have any more essays to write (I always wrote out essays first before typing them), I don't have any lecture notes … Read more →

Zelda Finished & Rabbids

RabbidAfter getting the game just before Christmas, yesterday I finally finished The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. According to my saved game timer, it took me just over 57 hours of continuous gameplay. Yep that's right, over two whole 24 hour days of my life gone playing this.

It's easily the longest game that I have ever played, making it well worth the amount paid for it, but also it was generally a fantastic game. The way that the Wii controllers allowed you to interact with the game was amazing, and the visual immersion of the game astounded me.… Read more →
