Arsenal’s New Stadium Opens & pwned

I've had a marvellous weekend, which I hope to cap off with a good game of indoor tonight. Other than the usual washing and cleaning, it's been a very relaxing two days. It's a shame that one has to go to work again on a Monday that rolls around again way too soon.

I've done a fair bit of gaming this weekend too. I finished off Call of Duty 2 and resumed playing Star Wars: Empire at War. Unusually, I also thought I would try a bit off online multiplayer as well. I normally don't play many games online, … Read more →

Admiring the Virtual Vista (Beta 2)

In getting a bit caught up in the whole virtual machine thing in recent weeks, I decided to finally have a go at installing the latest beta version of Microsoft's upcoming Windows Vista.

I installed it as a virtual machine under VMware Server, but thus all the ultra-pretty effects of the new 'Aero' interface wouldn't work because of the apparent difficulty of virtual machines using a graphics card. So I had to use the toned-down interface which still nevertheless looked quite good.

'Enough talking, show us some screenshots!' i here you say, below are a few selected thumbnails, you can … Read more →

Football Resumes & Mice

grrrr: annoyance at typing this out for the second time after accidentally pressing the back button on my new mouse and losing my typed out entry.

Anyway, here I go again: I had a pretty good weekend. After doing all the washing and cleaning that is required of us on a Saturday, we went to Church on Saturday night and after welcoming back a friend, we made a brief appearance at the subsequent Estia Foundation supper. (As a side note, how come the Estia Foundation can come up with a half-decent website but the Archdiocese can't?)

Anyway, after that we … Read more →

Catching Up on Some Sleep

I know there hasn't been much activity from me over this past week, but following the end of the World Cup i've been mainly spending time catching up on some very much needed sleep. During the World Cup i was getting anywhere between 3 and 6 hours of sleep a night, and now i'm doing about 9 just to stay awake. It's amazing what football will do to you.

Call of Duty 2 CoverLast week I took advantage of another EB sale and bought Call of Duty 2 (COD2) on PC for around only $50. I love my WWII games, and apparently COD was … Read more →

World Cup Wrap: Not the Result I Wanted

Italy won the World Cup early this morning Brisbane time, so i'm not only tired but i'm also very grumpy.

They defeated France 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out after the game plus extra time ended 1-1. It was another one of those matches where the team who majorly dominated the game and deserved to win, lost out on penalties.

I slept through my alarm, so I missed the first 30mins of the match, which also included both of the goals. After a pretty equal first half, France almost completely dominated the second half, as well as both halves of extra … Read more →

Poker Winner

Nothing really much blog-worthy of late, other than finishing another working week, playing Friday night poker, and the usual Saturday stuff.

Last nights winner (of both games, grrr :x) was:
This Weeks Winner: Anthony

Went to Church tonight, and tomorrow there is a Liturgy at Bribie Island, so we'll be going to that.

Ahead of the World Cup third place game, and the final, go Germany, and Vive Le France!! World Cup wrap coming after the games.… Read more →

The Finale Is Prepared

I got my wish this morning. Well, technically I got both my wishes this morning. France beat Portugal in the World Cup semi-final, and Christiano Ronaldo once again cried his eyes out like the little girl he is.

Ronaldo Cry Baby
There it is, C.Ronaldo once again crying his eyes out. For more anti-C.Ronaldo stuff, see http://www.ihateronaldo.com/.

lol I could watch him crying all day long and get entertained. It was funny how nearly the whole stadium booed whenever he got the ball.

Anyway, France won 1-0 to set up the final with Italy, who beat Germany in their semi with two … Read more →

Prayer Ropes & Lightsabers (Edit 1)

This past week i've gotten very excited about two acquisitions: a prayer rope and a lightsaber. 'WTF?' I hear many of you exclaiming? What best sums up this strange pairing is a label someone gave to me a while back (i can't remember who), which said I was 'a religious geek'. I love God, and I love Star Wars (obviously not equally), so getting these two things have made me quite happy :D.

My new prayer ropeAfter losing the prayer ropes that I had a while back, I have been wanting to get a replacement for a while. Sadly, Church hasn't had any … Read more →

France KO Brazil!

Henry Scores vs BrazilAnd what a KO'ing it was. I got up at 5am (Brisbane time) to watch the game live on SBS, and I wasn't disappointed. France almost completely dominated the game from start to finish, with a magnificent Thierry Henry volley off a free kick (see right) making the 1-0 scoreline, although the French arguably deserved more.

The Brazilians looked totally out of sorts, all their star players like Ronaldo, Ronaldihno, etc, just couldn't get a touch in, and when they did they quite often made stupid mistakes. It was truly a terrible Brazil performance. Contrasting that was France, who have … Read more →

Everybody Wins! & Sleep

The working week ended yesterday, and that means poker on Friday night. Unfortunately, only Rolando and Tim turned up. We played three games, and despite our best efforts, each of us won one game each. They were all pretty good games too.

So because we all won equally, the photo of this week's poker winner is of all three of us:

Poker Winners: Myself, Rolando, Tim

In the past 3 or 4 weeks of poker there has been a bit of a poor showing, with only two or three other people turning up. I'm beginning to wonder whether it is worth it … Read more →
