The thoughts, opinions, happenings, and just plain ramblings of a seemingly boring person.

English

In the past few weeks, I have gotten into following the Whirlpool forums. Other than getting myself into a couple of flame wars, I have gotten some very helpful advice, and my first proper forum participation has been a quite enjoyable experience. Added to that, the forum is an excellent custom-built (from scratch!) forum engine which has a fantastic interface and an overall practicality and usability about it.

Anyway, back to topic. As with any forum, or public internet posting place (eg. forums, blogs, message/bulletin boards, chat rooms, etc. etc.) the use of the English language is of a pretty … Read more →

Kitchen Tea

Today was Despina's kitchen tea before the wedding. We got tonnes of gifts, so a big 'thank you' to all who attended.

So, it's under three more weeks to go: about 19 days. I'm sure they're going to be very interesting. I apologise that my blog-frequency will not be up to scratch over the next few weeks, but i'm sure most will understand.

Most have tracked the progress the progress of Cypriot tennis player Marcos Baghdatis over the past week, as he made it to the final of the Australian Open. Being half-Cypriot myself, this was quite interesting to follow, … Read more →

Shopping with no-one around & VoIP

Tonight we went to Carindale to take advantage of the late-night-Wednesday-because-Thursday-is-a-public-holiday deal. It was fantastic, hardly anyone was there. It was like having almost a whole shopping centre, with all the staff, almost exclusively dedicated to serving you. We got a new mobile and put a few more things on the wedding registry at Myer.

In the last few days I have been looking at our telephony options our soon-to-be home. We're getting Bigpond cable for internet, and i'm pretty sure that i'm going to go for a VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) solution primarily for the phone mainly because … Read more →

Raining

It's raining outside as I type this. Why is this worth mentioning? I love when it rains, there's something that's just so soothing about it. However I was caught in it today as walked back from the city across the Victoria bridge. Although I had an umbrella, a bus ran through a puddle next to the footpath and sprayed my lower half horizontally. Needless to say I wasn't too impressed.

Yesterday i read an article in the newspaper that really intrigued me. It was a feature article on Britain making its final World War II loan repayment to the United … Read more →

300 Entries!

This entries marks the 300th one since I started this blog over 2 years ago! *streamers and other party stuff flying everywhere* On average, that makes it roughly one entry every 2.47 days (although of late it has been far from that frequent).

Of course we have been very very busy. As we approach the 30 day mark to the wedding, things have have started to intensify. The unit is coming into shape (which is very satisfying), and the last two weekends have been spent shopping for various things to fill it: lounges, dinner tables, washing machine, fridge, etc etc. … Read more →

The Last Game for a while.

This is another one of those times where i've had so much to blog but now that i've come to do it I can't remember anything!!

So i'll probably just get started by 'life-blogging' as Andrew puts it. I continued through the rest of the working week last week without too much drama. Work up until today seems to building up a healthy 'to do' list that i'll have to work through ahead of the wedding.

On Saturday we had our unit blessed by Fr Anastasi (as is tradition fro Orthodox homes just after Epiphany). May the Lord's will be … Read more →

New Years

So starts 2006. Happy New Years to everyone. Is it just me, or does everyone else hate how every new year we have to start writing the new date? We just barely got used to writing the last year, and then they make us write a different year; the nerve! I'm mainly peeved off because for some reason I don't like the way I draw my 6s.

As with most people, I made a new years resolution. This year my resolution was not to make a new years resolution. In doing that i've already failed at my resolution and now … Read more →

2005: Year in Review

It's that time of year again! Yes, this is my 'Year in Review' entry. This year proved to be an interesting and fulfilling one, yet stressful one. 2005 for me was a year of many 'lasts': last semester of uni, the last as a student, last of the Star Wars movies (please don't laugh!), and probably most important of all, it will have been the last full calendar year before I get married.

For those who aren't familiar with my 'Year in Review', it is the highlights of my year that I have taken from my own blog entries, with … Read more →

Christmas and Afterwards

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

Christmas 2005 has come and gone. A expected the day itself was extremely busy: went to the 8:30 Church service at St George, followed by attending 3 separate relatives residences for Lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, which finished at approximately 10pm.

The most notable of my presents this year was a poker set complete with chips and a couple of decks of cards. Although I never play for money or anything, I still enjoy a little competetive card play, and the chips in the set make it pretty fun.

Today we spent a very tiring … Read more →

Holidays and Christmas Approaching

Santa and Reindeer Queen St MallI know I haven't mentioned it, but it is that time of year again: this wonderful time where a few people still celebrate Christ Jesus coming into our world. The picture on the right was taken in the City where they have a pretty impressive Santa and reindeer wire-skeletons lit up with little blue lights hanging from the Queen St mall roof. (please no Santa vs. Jesus flame wars here)

We did the majority of our Christmas shopping this week on Monday and Tuesday night in the city. The City was open late till 9 all this week, and although … Read more →
