The Day After Christmas

Happy Christmas to everyone. Christ is born! Glorify him! (Thanks to Andrew for pointing that out).

Had a pretty good Christmas, although I was sweating my pants off most of the time. very hot day yesterday, i don't know if it was a good or a bad thing that it was overcast yesterday, some people say that it makes it even more humid, and thus more uncomfortable.

As normal, ate too much, which is not surprising. After visiting household number 3, drove home on the freeway during the storm last night which was a little scary, so I got off … Read more →

Christmas Eve & Xmas

I know it's really really sad, but i've got to honestly say that I have missed my computer during all this time that I've been working. I can honestly say that I haven't touched my computer in almost a whole week.

The office closed down yesterday afternoon for the Christmas/New Year break, and will start up again early in the first week of 2005 (I think on the 4th). For the past 3 weeks I haven't been getting any work at the supermarket, which is good now that I've started full-time work at the office, but I wasn't surprised to … Read more →

taking a break

Taking a break from work to type out a blog entry. The last week has gone by so fast now that I'm working full-time it's unbelievable.

Just to catch up: Sunday played indoor, in which we won by a considerable margin that I can't remember. After that I went over to Rolando's place and played games on his Gamecube. My absolute favourite is a game called Red Card, which is a soccer game in which you can tackle, kick, harass, to your heart's desire, and most of the time the referee won't call it. In fact you can even … Read more →

What a week

So completes my first (almost) complete week of full-time work. I've gotta say that this will take some getting used to: this is the first time that I have worked on a full-time basis in over four years. Just the hurriedness of everything and not really having time to do anything outside of work (let alone make a blog entry) is kind of strange.

Thursday night after work I attempted to do some Christmas shopping. Never again will I do this on a Thursday night this close to Christmas. I say 'attempted' to because I did not really get much … Read more →

Shaving Every Day

On Tuesday i started some work experience at a place that i'd prefer not to disclose in this public environment. It is not a dedicated IT place, but it still has a pretty critical IT side.

So that has meant that I have been working full time for the past few days, and as a consequence, in order to look somewhat professional, I have to shave every day. For the past 4 or so years I have gotten away with shaving every second or third day.

Anywho, moving on to something a little (note the 'little') less pointless, last night … Read more →

Survivor Arsenal

Was up to 4 last night watching the Arsenal game that ended in a 2-2 draw. Fantastic game that could have gone either way, but Arsenal should have won it as Thierry Henry missed an open goal latish in the game that would have rounded off his hattrick.

Was watching The Return of the King appendices till 2 when the game started.

Went to sleep and awoke at around 10ish.

Tonight was the conclusion of Survivor: Vanuatu, and it was good to see the last man standing with 6 girls all against males and ended up playing all of … Read more →

The Logies

What follows is my understanding of the Greek concept of logo, and it's pertinent relevance (not 'logo' as is in a graphic, but logo pronounced with a guttural 'g').

There is a Greek tradition for couples, of each person and also their families of 'giving' logo. I'm pretty sure this literally means giving their 'word' to the other person and family of their commitment and intentions for getting married. I think it is best described as the Greek thing of being engaged-to-be-engaged.

Me and Despina had our logo celebration-thing on Saturday night, and i'm delighted at having taken the first … Read more →

SW Battlefront

While I was down in Melbourne, I did buy a game: Star Wars Battlefront.

Probably one of the biggest releases from LucasArts this year (good company name btw hehe), I am a little disappointed in this game. Mainly aimed at the multiplayer battle market, it doesn't really come up to the standard of games like Unreal Tournament (haven't played UT 2004 yet, but I have got 2003), or the multiplayer modes of the PC version of Medal of Honour.

Both of these games had pretty good single player modes as well, but Battlefront's single player mode lacks a … Read more →

COMP3804 Overall marks

I promise that this will be my last entry on COMP3804! lol

We got our overall marks for the project, and well... i dunno if they are good or bad. We aced the product development section (i.e. the development and the presentation of the product): we got 21/21 marks, and did really well in the other sections.

For the whole course overall i got 90.66/100%.

this ticks me off a bit, as most of you will recall, i only got a 6 for this course because of the piece of crap grade capping based on the exam result. If I … Read more →

I’m Home

Just back back from the airport after my weekend trip to Melbourne with the family. Since i am pretty tired (i just got used to running on daylight savings time) i'll make this entry short and sweet.

Day 1 Friday: Arrive in Melbourne at around 9ish Melbourne time, catch a taxi to our hotel on Russell St in the city, check our bags and go out. We caught the free city circle tram from Federation Square and did the whole circle. As a side note, although the trams are in my opinion an excellent form for city transport, the city … Read more →
