Day 4 of NaBloPoMo

Does writing part of this entry a little bit before the actual day it is meant to be posted on, count as cheating under NaBloPoMo? Well, at least the first part of this entry was written before midnight.

Anywho, the reason why i'm posting this so early in the day is that I'm not sure whether i'll be able to make a post during the proper day/night before midnight. Talk about planning your life around a blog!

Speaking of NaBloPoMo, some guy has a page that allows you to randomly go through blogs participating in NaBloPomo: … Read more →

Day 3 of NaBloPoMo

Just got home from work and I have just commenced my attack on the computers. Friday night is usually when I try to get all the weekly computer-maintenance things out of the way. This includes doing anti-virus and spyware/adware scans, and doing backups among other things. I'm sure you guys all do that as well right? You don't?! Well, you really should, if not every week at the very least fortnightly or monthly. *steps off soapbox*

After getting back from the honeymoon, I have been reacquainted with one of my favourite TV shows: South Park. … Read more →

Day 2 of NaBloPoMo

Stupid me actually got up and watched the Arsenal Champions League game this morning. It was another terribly frustrating game in which Arsenal had so many clear cut chances (including two open goals), but just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. The game ended 0-0, but Arsenal really should have won it by at least 3 goals.

I swear they only play bad when i'm watching, as all the games I haven't watched they've mostly played brilliantly. I can just imagine Arsene Wenger (the Arsenal manager), talking to his players before the … Read more →

Day 1 of NaBloPoMo

This my the first entry for NaBloPoMo! In case you missed it, this month is NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month), which requires me to write at least one blog entry per day for entire month of November. I must apologise in advance for the inevitable short entries, dodgy content, and the many many speling and/or errors grammatical (those on purpose ;)).

Now onto the actual blogging. In significant news for locals, Level 4 water restrictions came into effect as the drought continues in south-east Queensland. The dam reserves are still going down, currently sitting at … Read more →

Over the years, mainly out of sheer curiosity, i've had fleeting thoughts of placing some advertising on this blog. Although I know not that many people read the crap I write here, I'm extremely curious to see how much real revenue through advertising that this site could actually pull in.

Advertising on websites these days is mainly based on a per-click basis, with the advertiser paying a certain amount to those displaying or publishing the adverts only each time someone actually clicks through to their site. Thus if nobody actually clicks on the ads, most of the time nobody gets … Read more →

So ends another weekend. I did some geekness on Friday night till late (more blog code modification), and yesterday I did all the normal computer maintenance in the morning, while bludging for the rest of the day.

After Church last night we went to Lone Star at Springwood for dinner, which was surprising because we went there last week after Church, and even more surprising was that the person who suggested it received pretty bad service there last week.

Anywho, after that we went back to my parent's place so i could watch the Arsenal game on Foxtel at midnight. … Read more →

I've often said that one of the main reasons why I keep a blog is for my own personal use. It is great to be able to look back and see what you were thinking and blogging about on the same day one, two, or even three years previously.

In doing exactly that a couple a days ago, I reviewed this post from late October 2004 in which I had completed seven consecutive days of making blog entries. I'm pretty sure that that is still the longest consecutive string of blogging that I have achieved to date, and it brings … Read more →

Hot on the heels of last week's IE7 release, today the next major version of Firefox (2.0) was officially released to the public. Get it from http://www.getfirefox.com.

Although there are a few very useful and logical updates and additions, I am a little underwhelmed by this new version. Don't get me wrong, Firefox is still my preferred browser by a long shot, but I guess i just don't see how the changes in 2.0 merit a step-up in the versions. But also, i can't help but feel the lack of major change is a good thing: if it ain't … Read more →

A few will recall me hunting around for a online RSS aggregator but not liking Google Reader because it didn't display my blog's feed correctly.

Well i really really liked what they did with the latest version of the service, and I really wanted to use it because I use a few other things with Google, and i wouldn't mind using Reader as well. So I invested a little time in trying to figure out what Google Reader didn't like with my blog feed, found it (relating to relative URLs), and promptly fixed it. Well, not really 'fixed it' because … Read more →

A big geeky post for today.

The big geek news from the past few days is that Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 7. After a stagnant past five years in which Microsoft has barely touched Internet Explorer, they have finally produced a new version. Most analysts say that it is a result from Firefox eating away at their market share that has prompted them to actually do something to update their browser.

You can download IE7 from the Microsoft website.

I made very public my dislike for IE6 when i switched to Firefox a few years back, so what … Read more →
