Now that the weekend is almost over i can take a breath. It has seemed as though every spare minute i had I spent studying (and that includes Friday). Lets see what did i do... I researched, planned, and wrote my HIST2702(the city in history) essay (the one about public executions in 18th century london). I've done the create table scripts for my COMP3804(IT Project) Stage 1, and i've populated all but one of the tables with sample data. I also worked on Saturday.

I have been very very busy and hence this is my first entry in quite a while. So many things to say!!

First of all, in the past week it was Despina's birthday. We threw a surprise dinner for her after Church on Saturday night. A few photos are now in the gallery, as well as some photos of some ducks that have been hovering around our pool the past few days.

Spent the whole of last night trying to configure this computer to show a lower resolution than its native 1680x1050. Browsing websites at this resolution, you really notice the good quality designs (ones that show up well and legible at larger resolutions), and ones that could have been done better that are only really for viewing at a particular resolution or two.

Well, the new computer finally arrived yesterday (i think thats only a month and half late, see the blog entries around the start of Feb)

I'll going to be spending the next day or two setting it up, which might take a bit of time that would have been spent doing uni stuff. ah well

Went to the labs yesterday, and tried to view my website, but i had trouble installing flash on the computers there to view the site. Don't really know why, becuase after i tried installing it, the flash buttons (on the main pages of the site) worked fine, but all the animations that i have created won't show.

Played my last game of indoor on sunday, becuase i won't have much time to play on Sundays with uni starting up again. I like futsal better anyway, so it's not that much of a loss for me. We lost 11-2 against the … Read more →

so ends my first week at uni (i do realise its only Thursday, but i haven't got any classes on Fridays (yet)). Today was the first lecture of COMP3804, the year-long IT project. I was quite shocked by the amount of work they are expecting us to do (i always seem to be at the start of every seemingly difficult course). I've updated my site, most notably with a new intro featuring Gysdintu the Uni Monster. Inspired by Trogdor (from Homestarrunner.com), i decided i would come up with something original for my new intro.

For the past few days i've been pretty sick. Its some kind of flu thing thats just blocking up my sinuses really bad, and has me blowing copious amounts of liquid out of my face pretty regularly.

Yesterday, the temperature got up to almost 42C, which aparently is the hottest February day Brisbane has ever had, eclipsing the previous highest temperature set in 1925. Went to the early movies and saw Mona Lisa Smile which finished at 12ish, only to remember that we had parked the car in the sun.

To call it an oven was an understatement. One of the little plastic compartments came out with barely a touch because the heat had softened the plastic pretty bad.

Yesterday the UQ Union stuff arrived in the mail which included all the usual garbage.

For all those not familiar with UQ and the the Union, here's some background info for this blog: All UQ students are also by default members of the UQ Union, and pay a semesterly 'Student Services Charge' (now $136) of which most (if not all) goes to the Union. As stated in this years send-out, the constitutional ethos of the union is "service, support, representation".

Sound ok doesn't it?
