Statistics 2007

Day 30, final day of NaBloPoMo 2007

So this is the last entry for NaBloPoMo 2007. As i mentioned a few days ago, it's been a little underwhelming this year; i've gotten no real satisfaction out of it.

Like I did near the end of last year's NaBloPoMo, i thought it might be interesting to post the statistics of the effect NaBloPoMo has had on the amount of visitors coming to this website:

NaBloPoMo stats

As with last year, it seems that NaBloPoMo has greatly increased the amount of visitors over previous months, but it seems that the response this year … Read more →

Best. Deal. Ever!: Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy Guide CoverDay 29 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Okay, the title may be a little dramatic, but the deal that I got from JB Hi-Fi for pre-ordering Super Mario Galaxy is really good.

If you missed it, mainly prompted by the almost perfect reviews and tags thrown about which went along the lines of "best platformer ever made", last week i gave into temptation and pre-ordered the new Mario game for the Wii.

For an incentive to pre-order, JB Hi-Fi were offering a free strategy guide. It's not until i picked up the game today that i found out that the "strategy guide" … Read more →

Over NaBloPoMo

Day 28 of NaBloPoMo 2007

At this point, i'm so over NaBloPoMo. This year I haven't really 'felt' NaBloPoMo; it's been more of a chore than an enjoyment. I think it's because that i've been so exponentially busier this year compared to last year, and that then I actually had some spare time to make the posts I did somewhat interesting, and maybe actually have some content.

At this stage, i don't think i'm going to participate in NaBloPoMo next year. Well..., unless I have a lot more spare time on my hands :D.… Read more →

That’s About It…

Day 27 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Work has been absolutely terrible the past few days. Although there hasn't been any full-scale disasters, the amount of little things that are just piling up and taking the focus away from bigger and more important projects is almost bringing me to tears.

Anywho, i won't go on too much about that. I'm a few stages through Crysis, and i'm really enjoying it.

Well, there's nothing else much that comes to mind at the moment. That's about it...… Read more →

Crysis Arrives

Day 26 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Crysis coverToday I received my copy of Crysis that i ordered from Hong Kong. I ordered the 'Special Edition' if the game, which in Australia is in a cool 'Steelbook' case, but sadly the Hong Kong version, despite having the same contents, didn't come similarly packaged :(. There's something about Steelbook cases that is so cool...

I've played through the first stage (again; the demo was the same stage), and for some reason a really enjoyed it more this time around. I think i'm overusing the cloaking suit function, but it's so cool being … Read more →

Keep On Playing?

Day 25 of NaBloPoMo 2007

With all the fantastic video games coming out throughout this month, us married gamers face a tough choice on an almost daily/nightly basis: "Should I stop playing this game?"

Yes, it is a tough one but thankfully someone had the brains to make the choice a little easier for us. With great recommendation i present the following PDF: Should I stop playing this game? A decision matrix for married folks.

Hilarious and practical at the same time!

On the gaming front, today i finished Portal the fun puzzle solver included in The Orange Box… Read more →

Change of Government

Day 24 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Today was the Australian federal election, and the day has brought a change of Government with the Labor Party achieving a comfortable majority in the House of Representatives.

Whilst the result was mostly expected, it didn't really turn out to the the landslide victory that many predicted. Probably the most surprising, but again not totally shocking result of the election was that the outgoing Prime Minister John Howard, looks set to lose his own seat - something that has previously only happened once since Federation.

The result also means that our local representative on this … Read more →

Election Eve

Day 23 of NaBloPoMo 2007

So tomorrow is the Australian federal election. It's been an interesting campaign, and the result tomorrow will be very interesting.

What i found extremely surprising this morning, was that the local Brisbane newspaper, The Courier Mail actually endorsed one of the political parties for people to vote for! I won't mention which party and leader they endorsed because it really is irrelevant to the issue, but WTF?!

When does a media organisation formally endorse a political for people to vote for, and then actually print it in their publications? I'm not sure if The Courier … Read more →

England Get Deserved Result

England crash out of Euro 2008 qualifyingDay 22 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Despite being handed a miracle opportunity by Israel on the weekend, the England football team blew their opportunity to qualify for the the Euro 2008 Football tournament.

All they had to do was not lose to Croatia (who had already qualified and thus really had nothing much to play for), and despite the relatively easy-sounding task, they still managed to totally blow it.

It's the result they deserve: England have been largely underwhelming for quite some time. People wonder why Arsene Wenger (the Arsenal manager) hasn't got many English players in the Arsenal team any … Read more →

Lethargic Half Day

Day 21 of NaBloPoMo 2007

For some reason i awoke today feeling quite crap. Although i wasn't 'sick', i felt i hardly barely enough energy to get out of bed, let alone work.

I somehow managed to get myself to work, and i lethargically lasted until lunch time, at which i decided to go home and rest. It's quite strange, i don't often feel like this; i think my body must be fighting something...

After some hours of sitting around not doing much, i eventually finished Half Life 2: Episode Two tonight. Although the ending is suspenseful, it's not as … Read more →
