Change of Government

Day 24 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Today was the Australian federal election, and the day has brought a change of Government with the Labor Party achieving a comfortable majority in the House of Representatives.

Whilst the result was mostly expected, it didn't really turn out to the the landslide victory that many predicted. Probably the most surprising, but again not totally shocking result of the election was that the outgoing Prime Minister John Howard, looks set to lose his own seat - something that has previously only happened once since Federation.

The result also means that our local representative on this … Read more →

Election Eve

Day 23 of NaBloPoMo 2007

So tomorrow is the Australian federal election. It's been an interesting campaign, and the result tomorrow will be very interesting.

What i found extremely surprising this morning, was that the local Brisbane newspaper, The Courier Mail actually endorsed one of the political parties for people to vote for! I won't mention which party and leader they endorsed because it really is irrelevant to the issue, but WTF?!

When does a media organisation formally endorse a political for people to vote for, and then actually print it in their publications? I'm not sure if The Courier … Read more →

England Get Deserved Result

England crash out of Euro 2008 qualifyingDay 22 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Despite being handed a miracle opportunity by Israel on the weekend, the England football team blew their opportunity to qualify for the the Euro 2008 Football tournament.

All they had to do was not lose to Croatia (who had already qualified and thus really had nothing much to play for), and despite the relatively easy-sounding task, they still managed to totally blow it.

It's the result they deserve: England have been largely underwhelming for quite some time. People wonder why Arsene Wenger (the Arsenal manager) hasn't got many English players in the Arsenal team any … Read more →

Lethargic Half Day

Day 21 of NaBloPoMo 2007

For some reason i awoke today feeling quite crap. Although i wasn't 'sick', i felt i hardly barely enough energy to get out of bed, let alone work.

I somehow managed to get myself to work, and i lethargically lasted until lunch time, at which i decided to go home and rest. It's quite strange, i don't often feel like this; i think my body must be fighting something...

After some hours of sitting around not doing much, i eventually finished Half Life 2: Episode Two tonight. Although the ending is suspenseful, it's not as … Read more →

Day 20

Day 20 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Today's work wasn't too bad. Although busy, nothing much happened that left me feeling like i want to beat the excrement out of something, which overall is a pretty good result.

At work we, and all other Singtel (Optus) internet customers in Australia, had some weird access issues for most of the morning as we couldn't access some overseas sites.

Also today, my Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance that I ordered from another Hong Kong-based online store, Play-Asia.com, arrived. I'm impressed by their service, delivery, and price, so i think i might start ordering from … Read more →

One Down Two to Go

Day 19 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Tonight i finished Half Life: Episode 1, and consequently started Episode 2. Again, i don't know how people waited the time between the releases of these games. After i finish episode 2 i'm probably going to complain how much i won't be able to wait until Episode 3 (yet to be released) comes out.

Anywho, i'll try not to blog too much about Half Life any more.

Because i don't have anything to blog about today, i'll blog about yesterday. We went down the coast and met up with a cousin who is … Read more →

Half Life 2 is Awesome

Half Life 2Day 18 of NaBloPoMo 2007

This morning i finished Half Life 2, and I've got to say, that game was awesome. I'm still struggling to comprehend how the heck i hadn't managed to play the game until now. It's quite baffling considering it's been three years since it was released and how many 'Game of the Year' awards it won, and also generally how awesome the game is.

Graphics wise, i think the game still holds its own even after three years; there's still a lot of shooters released recently that still don't match it.

The only downside … Read more →

NaBloPoMo Duties

Day 17 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Man, NaBloPoMo is starting to suck a bit, tonight is another night that I soooo wouldn't have normally done an entry for.

Nothing exciting today: still playing through Half Life 2, did the cleaning, went to Church and afterwards we went and ate seafood (eeek).

And now i'm back here playing Half Life 2 once again. 🙂… Read more →

Trudging Along

Day 16 of NaBloPoMo 2007

Another quick one before midnight to fulfil my NaBloPoMo obligations.

Work this week was pretty miserable overall, but today wasn't too bad.

After tonight's game playing, i'm about half way through Half Life 2, some parts are pretty frustrating! Hopefully i'll be able to play a fair bit and finish it this weekend. The only thing that's definitely planned is Andrew's house-cooling, as it's a bye week for football.… Read more →

Orange Box Arrives… Again!

Day 15 of NaBloPoMo 2007

When it rains, it pours, at least when it comes to orange boxes! As it happens, after a whole month of it not arriving in the post, the first Orange Box that i ordered actually did arrive today: the day after the replacement one I ordered after thinking the original one was lost in the post showed up.

I'm sure the surprised look on my face when i opened the package was worth a thousand words.

I've started to play Half Life 2 for the first time, and visually i'm very impressed, especially considering how … Read more →
