A Bluesky Feed Appears

After properly giving Bluesky a go in late 2024, I permanently moved off Twitter in early 2025. That followed an Elon-induced deterioration of the platform in the preceding years, where it generally became a worse place to be, including comments being riddled with clickbait (and for a while, hardcore porn!) after comments were incentivised for money.

In 2023, I even had to remove the longstanding feed of my 'Tweets' on this website, because Twitter started charging money to access its API.

So, for the better part of the last few years, I have largely enjoyed Bluesky as a decent replacement for Twitter. Although I am still on Mastodon, it just hasn't seemed to have the same breadth and takeup in non-tech fields. Plus it helps that my favourite Arsenal blog, Arseblog, moved to Bluesky too.

It's taken a while, but after a bit of searching, it looks like I've found a decent Bluesky plugin for WordPress to show a list of Bluesky posts, similar to the list of Tweets before it.

I'm hoping that by the end of the year, I can also start creating a "Bluesky posts for 20XX" for each year, like I did for Twitter from 2012 to 2022.

Other than the Bluesky feed, I've also given this website a little maintenance love. I've (hopefully) sorted out the header rendering on mobile views, and more practically, I've also enabled better searching (via Jetpack) for the site. I tried a few different search plugins, but they either looked terrible or wanted crazy subscription money. For the traffic that this site gets, the free tier of Jetpack search is (hopefully) going to be more than enough for my needs.
