Easter 2009 & Awesome Surreal Game

A big 'Christ is Risen' to everyone!

Other than the main event, this Holy Week has been a pretty uneventful one. I'm really glad that I decided to take Friday off work, as it was great having the day to rest and prepare for the services this weekend.

I'm even more glad that i've taken tomorrow off work too, as right now i'm feeling absolutely screwed. We got home and into bed at around 4:30am last night after Church finished and the supper afterwards, woke up at around 11:30 and did the family thing all afternoon.

The timing of our indoor game was good today: it was at 5pm, so that allowed us to tour the two families before I scooted off to play the game.

The game itself was awesome and very surreal at the same time. The other team overall wasn't that good, and I opened the scoring early with a neat and tidy goal low into the corner. I thought then that it would be an easy and high-scoring game for us: they only had two technically good players, and their goal-keeper was bordering on morbidly obese: he would have been pushing close to (if not past) 200 kilos in my opinion.

As expected we utterly dominated possession in the field and created about 20-30 good chances that we would usually put away most of. Very unexpectedly, the obese goal-keeper was an absolute FREAK. And when i say freak, I mean that in the best possible way.

This guy was absolutely amazing. He saved so many good shots and chances, throwing his huge weight around and diving and saving balls all over the place. At half-time it was 1-1 when we really should have been up by at least 5+ goals, the only thing stopping us was the keeper.

In the second half it was more of the same, we created even more chances, but this guy was literally awesome, I really couldn't believe how many saves he was making. I ended up having an awesome game: I hit a second goal, kicking a half-volley low into the right corner beyond the reach of the keeper, and after two more goals to either side, I scored another screamer, hitting a high and hard shot over the keeper from a bit of distance after everyone else backed-off me.

The game finished 4-2, with me grabbing a hattrick. If it wasn't for their keeper, we could have easily scored 15-20 goals, and that is definitely not an exaggeration. I was really pleased with the way I played, especially after a few disappointing performances in our recent couple of games.

  2. I dunno about Blackberries, you might have to ask them. (as if you'd want a Blackberry though...)

For the internet, because I chose not to add an internet pack to my plan, I get charged the casual browsing rates at $2.05/MB, which is included in my cap.

So if I were to use ALL my cap on internet, i'd get about 70MB worth. I use Opera Mini for the browsing, which hardly uses any data, so that's not going to happen any time soon...
