I know that this is probably the last thing I should be posting about in the middle of Holy Week (for the 'Westerners': Orthodox Easter is this weekend), but one the main reasons for my lack of blogging recently is that i'm having internet issues at home.
Specifically during the peak periods of the night (usually from 6pm-11pm) my internet connection is largely unresponsive. Download speeds don't seem to be an issue once it gets going, but the uploads are atrocious. This means that pages are frequently timing-out, and general web browsing has been tortuous.
I originally thought that it was a network congestion issue, as it really only surfaces during the peak times. But when i went to change my modem frequency to see if I could get onto a less congested channel, my modem itself times-out when trying to apply the changes.
In fact, I haven't been able to apply any config changes to the modem at all: it keeps timing out. So now my suspicions have turned to the modem as possibly being the culprit. Of course the Telstra CSRs in the technical help centre are useless, and I don't really want to get a tech to come around unless absolutely necessary, but it's increasingly looking like that's what I'll have to do.
