On Sunday Despina and I were koumbari (or sponsors/best man/matron of honour) at Andrew and Sarah's wedding.
It was a really great day, and a great experience too. It's the first time either of us have been koumbari, and i think I managed to pull it off without stuffing up too much.
The only hickup on the day was the groom forgetting the rings (which is usually the best man's responsibility, but I was relieved of this much earlier on in the planning process ;)), but other than that everything went really well.
I'm pretty sure I did the stefana (the crowns) properly, and I thought my speech wasn't too bad either. It's the first time (other than conducting training sessions for work) that i've done public speaking in a long time (probably the first time since my own wedding), so it was a little nerve-wracking to be up there.
Congrats to the newlyweds, it's finally good to not be the only young-ish married couple in our small group of friends at Church! The mantle has been passed on!
Thanks again for your help - you've both been awesome! Speech was great - I'll see if I can get the video 😀
(...but did you have to mention the rings...:P)
anytime 😀
Omg! Andrew forgot the rings? I had no idea? What happened in the end?
I'm pretty sure they used their engagement rings for the ceremony 🙂
I'll never forget Andrew's face when we got to Church and I asked him if he brought the rings: it went from "pfff, yeah of course I have them" to "crap where are they I thought they were in this pocket" to "F********** where the heck are the rings?!!" to *runs away looking for the rings*
hahahahhaha, ah, that would've been terrifying on the day. Poor andrew.
That was like us girls at your wedding when we all got in the car to go to the church, the rings had fallen off the pillow somewhere, and we spent about 20 mins looking for it. We were crapping ourselves.
