Blog

The thoughts, opinions, happenings, and just plain ramblings of a seemingly boring person.

The high amount of views for this blog continues. Judging from the amount of people that posted comments on the last post (thanks to all who did btw), I have ~20 readers (9 distinct people who posted comments x ~2 for the people who viewed and didn't post, and rounded off). To be honest that's a bit more than I expected, but that still doesn't count for, at the time of writing, around 170 views, especially considering people having access to an RSS feed and all.

Anywho, I thought today i might devote a blog entry to the topic of … Read more →

Runners Up

Today was the Grand Final of the indoor football season. Surprisingly, today I was able to play. As mentioned before i probably wasn't going to play because I hadn't played 5 games for the team in the normal season because of me braking my foot, and thus couldn't play in the finals. However it turned out that we were playing Nick's brother's team (who I broke my foot playing against), who consented for me to play.

Runners Up MugWe lost the game 7-4 after throwing the game away twice. They got up two goals before we came back to be level 3-3. … Read more →

My Name Day

Today is the feast-day of the Saint that I am named after. The particular Saint in question, is Saint Luke the Evangelist. I was going to upload an image of an icon of him, but the disk is full on the server my website is on, so I can't do it at the moment (you will probably be lucky if you see this post). Hope later in the week i'll be able to upload the image.
EDIT 11:23pm: Disc space freed up, image now here (duh!)

Anywho, below is both Luke's (Loukas in Greek, hence Lucas) Apolytikion and a short … Read more →

The Foot Has Been Kissed

I finished off the working week without any major dramas on Friday. I can't really remember what we did on Friday night so it mustn't have been too eventful.

Sun through cloudsOn Saturday we lazed around after sorting through some more unit-purchasing garbage. I can't wait until we can just forget about all that stuff. The inset photo is something I took on my phone on Saturday afternoon. I find it amazing how every now-and-then you get these spectacular displays of rays of sunshine shining through breaks in the clouds. It really stirs up the faith in you seeing the wonder of … Read more →

Too Hot & Water Restrictions

Lucas SucksThe image to the right is something that Michael did at work while experimenting with Photoshop CS2 vanishing points, which is quite a remarkable feature in the latest offering from Adobe. I thought it might be good to put it up here, i found it quite amusing.

Work this week has been kind of busy, as i've had to assume another person's role as well as my own for this week as he has gone on holidays. Plus the new water restrictions have come into place this week, which means using sprinklers is now banned, so tonight I spent over … Read more →

Bad Parenting, Holiday & More Better Learning

Of course today is the Ekka holiday. Some, like myself, are lucky to have it off. Others, like Despina, aren't so lucky. I still think that every second Wednesday should be a holiday: i think it would refresh everyone a whole lot more, and everybody would be a whole lot more productive (this is me dreaming of course).

I went with Wil to see Star Wars for one last time, as the Balmoral cinemas had an adults at kids prices special final screening of it. The movie is almost completely gone from cinemas, so I enjoyed watching it on the … Read more →

Poker & Internet Safety

I've noticed in the past few weeks that I have been very much enjoying watching the World Poker Tour. It was on Channel 10 (I think?) lately on Saturday nights, and is on Fox 8 on Friday nights. Although the show is just people playing poker, it is rated MA (restricted to people under 15 y.o.) for gambling. It's awesome watching them play and psych-out each other.

As has been usual of late, I have barely had any spare time in front of a computer. The last two days at work was also unusually hectic.

Friday was pretty busy. … Read more →

Love/Hate and Backups

I have come to realise over the past few days of work that I truly have a love/hate relationship with computers. At times they can be the best thing in the world to use for basically anything from word processing, the internet and email, to playing games.

But at other times they can be the most infuriatingly frustrating things on the face of the Earth. And that can be just using them. At work having to attend to some of the computer problems of the office is doubly frustrating.

I guess it's mainly because that most of the problems are … Read more →

Procrastination Personified: Site Redesign

Look ma! No tables! (well... almost)

If you haven't noticed, I just completed a complete site redesign. I have incorporated a more universal look and feel compared to the old design. The header of each page is now the same throughout the site (except of course for the name and by-line), and the consistent menu should allow for easier navigation.

For the main part of the site (ie the entire site excluding the blog and the gallery), I stopped using tables for page layout and completely replaced them with divs, with the layout controlled by a CSS style sheet. If … Read more →

Changing to GMail

I have made a decision to change my main email account from Hotmail to GMail. I think that it has advanced far enough for me to make the change.

This decision is not really at all borne out of an anti-Microsoft stance, but really a pro-i-like-things-to-work stance. After switching browsers to Firefox, I have really noticed that most of the MS sites, including Hotmail, aren't really totally great with anything other than Internet Explorer.

That combined with a lot of other 'pull' factors of GMail has convinced me to make the switch.

Below is my last email that I sent … Read more →
