Movies & PSN Freebies

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger TidesNow that I have a little more spare time and i'm not feeling too bad, we've started going out to the movies regularly again.

Last week we saw Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It was decent without being that good. It was definitely a whole lot better than the atrocious 2nd and 3rd movies, but it wasn't that great. I'm not saying it was bad, but it really wasn't that good either.

I think it fell victim again to the whole 'not explaining' thing: not explaining how Blackbeard has his weird powers, nor how the heck the 'Pearl ended up in a bottle. The mermaids were cool, but the movie was unnecessarily 20-30mins too long and the 3D was pretty token.

Last night we intended on going to see X-Men: First Class, but because the specific session we were planning on seeing it in was cancelled and moved to a crappier cinema, we decided on seeing The Hangover Part II instead.

I enjoyed the second movie a lot more than the first. I thought it was paced well, and the jokes were spread pretty well. However, like the first, i don't think i'll be seeing it again though.

In the past couple of days the PSN has fully come back online following almost a whole month of being taken down after the hacking incident. The whole situation is quite extraordinary, and I can only imagine the billions that Sony have lost during the whole saga, not to mention the damage in terms of their reputation.

The 'Welcome back' freebies have been made available today; i'll be getting Wipeout HD, which I am really happy about because i've been wanting to get this myself for a while, as well as the Ratchet and Clank game.

  1. I loved all the Pirates movies but then I could be a little biased as Johnny Depp is in all of them, but this last movie had me asking since when did Mermaids have fangs. I mean I know that they are not all nice and beautiful like Disney's Ariel has lead us all to believe but come on FANGS!!!

Oh and thanks for you movie reviews Lucas I will have to remember to check your blog more often to see them.
