Compulsory Blogging & googling

Day 7 of NaBloPoMo

I am buggered and the last thing I feel like doing right now is a blog entry, but I will live up to my NaBloPoMo duties. We just got home from dinner with the parents, which included over an hour of IT support duties, mainly related to an iPod not wanting to play AVIs and Canon digital cameras being a pain.

Today was a largely uneventful day, this morning I posted the incorrect sunglasses away, and hopefully tomorrow but probably Thursday I will receive the correct ones, hopefully in good condition.

To add a bit of content to this blog, today I was reading an entry from the Official Google Blog about them being afraid of losing rights to their 'google' brand if the term 'google' gets used too much as a verb in the public vernacular.

Apparently, they don't want you to use the word 'google' as a verb, unless you are only referring to searching on the internet using the Google search engine specifically and exclusively. The example they give is that they don't want you to be saying "I googled him on Yahoo and he seems pretty interesting".

  1. actually, it's a common fear. telstra's next-g network already has some protections put in place so that doesn't happen, they hope.

i seriously don't get it. i've always wanted to start a phrase-trend. the closest i've gotten is starting a clap at a cinema (which i'm still impressed and surprised by).
