Spoofs: Apple and Chamillionaire & RSS Reader

I've stumbled upon a few hilarious spoofs/parodies lately. First up is Apple and their 'Get a Mac' Mac vs PC ads. These piss me off. Luckily, some guys have developed a set of funny spoofs that manage to pay out nearly everybody involved (Warning!: NSFW, language etc.) . Gold.

The king of parodies and spoofs, Weird Al Yankovic is releasing his next album here in the next few days (see previous entry). The latest video off the album is a parody of the song Ridin by Chamillionaire. The video, and song are both hilarious. See Chamillionaire's original video here, and see Al's parody video here. The parody reeks of geekness, and as a result, I love it; It's his best geek song since It's all about the Pentiums. I especially love the detail that you usually miss first time round: e.g. "MC Escher, that's my favourite MC" (if you don't get it, see this Wikipedia article for a who 'M.C. Escher' actually is). Pure gold, I can't wait to get my hands on the album.

Continuing with geekness from another previous entry, I think that I have settled on a RSS aggregator/reader. The one i'm mostly happy with is News Alloy. It's a heavily AJAX-based solution, and it's interface is very similar to GMail. It's definitely not perfect as it has a few annoying quirks and takes a bit to get used to, but after trying most of the notable others I think this one is definitely the best for me. We'll see how it goes.

To football, after previous depressing displays (well documented here) starting the new season, it seems that Arsenal have started to move through the gears. Last week they beat Manchester Utd, and once again they're doing quite well in the Champion's League.

  1. Just as a follow up regarding the whole RSS aggregator thing, in the past few days Google has released a brand spankin new look and redesign for Google Reader. It's pretty impressive.

However, the bug that was in the old version regarding relative links (especially in images) is still present. And it's still annoying enough to have me not using it. grrr
