What a week

So completes my first (almost) complete week of full-time work. I've gotta say that this will take some getting used to: this is the first time that I have worked on a full-time basis in over four years. Just the hurriedness of everything and not really having time to do anything outside of work (let alone make a blog entry) is kind of strange.

Thursday night after work I attempted to do some Christmas shopping. Never again will I do this on a Thursday night this close to Christmas. I say 'attempted' to because I did not really get much done, and overall it was a deeply stressful and frustrating experience. Too many people, long lines just to buy one small item, and it took 25mins just to get out of the carpark because of everyone leaving at once.

I haven't had any work at the supermarket this past two weeks, and I'm hoping that I don't get any shifts anytime soon as I don't want to be working full-time at the office and have to work there as well. I still have to go in and check my hours for next week.

Over the past week I have started reading the controversial, but highly popular, The Da Vinci Code. I have heard many things about this book from many different people, and I though I might as well read it and make my own mind up about it. I'm not that much of a fast reader, so it usually takes me a considerable amount of time (say a month+) to read a reasonably sized novel. But still, I haven't read a novel on a long time, so it's good to read something fictional.

  1. for what it's worth, a lot of that book is based on fact. apparently it's a not a bad read until you get to the last bit - that's when you get to the controversial stuff.
what scares me most is when people think it's real. and then say 'well what if the Church just covered up all these Gospels and this and that and this'...and the only polite response is reaching for a balloon to smack them around with...(so to speak)
